We have stayed at this hotel before and loved it, as it is really quiet. As it was our anniversary we thought we would like to stay again, however, we were a little disappointed to be the only couple in the restaurant in the evening, which made us feel a little uneasy. Can't fault the staff though, they are friendly... more

I recently spent one night in this hotel whilst on business in Exeter. A summary review from me this time: -Food was pretty good, and good value -Room was excellent, certainly the best part of my stay (room 5) had a double shower and a large bath. Fantastic views over the fields. -Getting there was tough going, the TomTom got... more

Yet another great 3 nights at this hotel. Beds were supper comfy and the breakfast superb! Love the smoked haddock and poached egg. Full English breakfast is just as good though. Thanks Chef! Simon the waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the local area too, even though he was isn't a born and bred local. The hotel is very... more

We stayed for a long weekend commencing 21 August - the same day as S Burgess of Cambridgeshire, whose review we have just read with disbelief. We totally disagree with most of his comments: there was no animal smell in the reception area, the staff could not have been more helpful; we ate in the restaurant on the first evening:... more

As I got out of the car, the views looked amazing, and was really looking forward to my overnight stay. I walked towards the reception, and whilst I was greeted by a friendly receptionist, the smell of an animal hit me, then I noticed there was a cat wondering round the reception area, and it's basket was right next to... more

The location is breathtaking, even in the drizzle! We recieved a warm welcome from the receptionist and resident cat. The purpose of the trip was to relax for a couple of days and we were certainly in the right place. We ate dinner in the hotel on both nights. The first night we treated ourselves to the restaurant and the... more

Location is very nice, not easy to find. Reception was fine, room small, plastic bin, plastic mirror, breakfast was ok, certainly not worth the money. more

Having seen some of the reviews here we arrived at the hotel with a certain amount of trepidation. We found a very good hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff - they were outstanding. Our room [#25] was at the front of the building and was modern, clean and beautifully positioned with fantastic views across the countryside. Certainly the main... more

Stayed here for one night. You need a GPS to find this old building. Room 7 was decorated in the 80s ??? and in need of updating. The bathroom was very 80's, the peeling paint and odd shower (I thought it best not to use). The breakfast was excellent, the best i have every had. The staff are very friendly. more

Stayed just one night when working in Exeter. Easy to find down the narrow roads if you have a good sat nav - mine gave up but my colleages Tom Tom was fine. Excellent room - sunken bath also had a newish looking massive shower overhead. All staff very helpful. Evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant very good. Stunning... more
