We would recommend this hotel unreservedly. The location was beautiful, nestled in the woods above the bay. Our room had a view of the sea and surrounding hills, I believe all the rooms have sea views. The hotel is high enough to give views over the Bristol Channel all the way to Wales. You can see Cardiff & Swansea glittering... more

Just returned from a relaxing weekend staying at this quirky hotel. Food and views, as already stated, are excellent. Very comfortable and large bed. Fabulous old building with a great verander over-looking the sea where you can sit in wicker chairs and enjoy your afternoon tea. However the decor and furniture are in need of serious renovation. Our room had... more

Well worth the detour off the beaten path down winding lanes, we arrived at this small, cosy hotel to find a big, comfortable bed and cuisine to die for. Though the bar has been converted into for-sale apartments, the restaurant remains intact, and owner Martin Petch turns out the most sublime evening meals and fresh breakfasts. I just stayed in the Woody Bay Hotel for a few days with a friend, and we were really happy to be exploring Exmoor from there. It's at the most spectacular spot above the sea, with various walking trails starting right on it's doorstep, and only a few kilometers from Lynton if you are looking for a little more exitement.... more

About 9 years ago we stumbled across this lovly hotel and we make a pilgramage from Bristol a few times a year to visit Woody Bay. The room are old fashioned and charming. The warmer weather invites walks down to the bay; the cooler weather beckons sitting by the fire in the cozy sitting room. All climes invite to sit... more

We've been going to the Woody Bay Hotel for five years or more, ever since we were introduced to the hotel by some friends. We try to go at least twice a year. Collette and Martin Petch are the best of hosts. The accommodation is great - ask for Room 1 if you'd like a real old fashioned and comfortable... more
