If you are arriving in anything but a very small car be prepared for lots of manoeuvring just to drive around the tight corners in the underground car park. The hotel has obviously had a partial renovation in the past, but it is only superficial. The tired old bedroom doors, windows and bathrooms remain. In the bathroom there was mould... more

Stayed here for one night with partner, attending a concert at the Plymouth Pavilions. The hotels location is its saving grace, 5 min walk from the city center and Hoe, 10 to the Barbican. Now the bad bits. The car park is charged at £3 a day. It is dismal, tight turns and spaces, easily accessed by non guests and... more

Back again for an overnight stopover on the way to Cornwall. Stayed in a larger room this time which was worth the extra both for the extra space and the view over the Hoe. Pretty quiet in the Restaurant on the night we stayed (Monday) but the food was good and well cooked and plenty of it - not "fine... more

Great location, rooms fine, staff friendly and attentive (other than reception staff - see comment below)food variable with it being a mainly carvery led menu, meat on offer was one night good one night not so good. Underground car park is not for the nervous or those with cars bigger than a smart car. Reception staff diffident and did not recognise... more

Had a long weekend here over the August bank holiday,It really is a superb place to stay. It's very 'comfortable'. We booked an executive room as there were no family rooms available, and we're glad we did. We were given a 10th floor room, facing the sea, with stunning views out over the Sound...Personally I'd've been happy to sit on a chair all... more

Hey! Great city, good hotel in the best location. I've known this hotel for years & I love it despite the faults. Work on them HI Plymouth! On my last stay, check in impersonal & lacked sparkle. No acknowledgement of HI Platinum status. Rooms big, views stunning (always get a west or south facing room here). Decor, cleaning, maintenance of... more

Returned to the HI Plymouth for our annual August Bank Holiday visit to the city, despite concerns following our disappointing stay of last year (Housekeeping Horrors Review). We arrived early, check-in was easy and our room was available. Good start, although I am continually amazed to find that a family room, reserved for 4 people is only appointed for 2... more

Stayed here several times on Business. For people "holidaying" in the Plymouth area, the Holiday Inn has probably the best location in town. It's situated right between the shopping centre of town and the historic part of town (The hoe/The barbican), each a five minute walk away. When you arrive at the hotel, you'll probably be thinking "oh my god".... more
