Stayed here for 3 nights at Christmas. A great location on the Hoe a short walking distance to the sea front and shopping centre. The owner Nigel was very friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was ok but a bit on the small side. As for the rooms they are in serious need of modernisation. An old style portable tv... More

My mother and I shared a room here when visiting my daughter at Plymouth Uni. I understand that most rooms are now en suite. This B&B is well positioned close to the Hoe, and allows small dogs to stay. Rooms are simple, and short on space, breakfast was fine, with plenty of tea available, plenty of hot water. Nigel and... We had a pleasant stay here as we toured SW England. Nigel was very helpful and his breakfasts were good. The property is an old building with lots of charm. The room itself was very comfortable. Parking was at a premium but Nigel helped us to find street parking nearby as his parking area is small and was full at... More

Great place to stay. Nigel the owner is friendly, helpful and accomodating. Convenient to waterfront and restaurants. Breakfasts are delicious and cooked to order. Would stay there again for sure.

I stayed one night on Saturday 24th September 2011. It was all I would want a guest house to be. The room was more than adequate, staff and owners were always available to help and advise me. Nice choice of breakfast I can't think of one thing to complain about!

The Lighterman were able to accommodate us despite a late booking and arrival on Easter Sunday (we couldn't arrive before 10pm). Our room was clean, tidy and more than we expected. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We have enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

We stayed at Lamplighter for 3 nights in Feb 2010. It was a lovely warm room with ensuite. The bed was comfy and the TV had lots of channels. The breakfast was really nice. Chap who owns Lamplighter is genuine and really friendly. We would stay again- no questions. The location is central to Plymouth Barbican and Hoe and in... More

To be completely honest, I was getting a little desperate when I booked the Lamplighter Guesthouse as available en-suite options were fast running out for the period and price that we wanted to stay for in Plymouth. The Lamplighter Guesthouse offered a double room that wasn’t en-suite but had a shower in the room and a private separate toilet. As... More
