The staff were very friendly a helpful and went out of their way to make us welcome. The room we accupied was basic, but clean neat and tidy...bathroom likewise. you get a good breakfast well cooked and plenty of... more

Unable to get booked at the Invicta, we were advised to try the Drake which is 50 yards away. Location brilliant for the Hoe. Booking by phone reliable and as requested, nice large, clean room. Bit sparse perhaps but just what you'd expect at the price. Friendly service, good breakfast. Night access by key. I'm getting used to the odd... more

I booked this hotel largely because of its proximity to The Hoe as that was where my son's graduation was taking place. We arrived quite late in the evening, but the welcome was warm. Thew room I shared with two of my sons was great. Two singles and a double in the basment with a leather sofa! Rooms were clean... more

Having read the reviews of The Drake Hotel we approached with slight trepidation. But everything was made easy and pleasant especially the helpfulness of Nicky made our stay a great success. Our room was large and airy with a small but adequate bathroom. The dinner was extremely good with generous portions and with very pleasant house wines and it was... more

This had to be the worst nights sleep ever, the bed was so uncomfortable, together with only a blanket on top and the thinnest pillows possible it didn't make it a good nights sleep. We were in one of the rooms behind reception which were old and badly in need of decoration. The walls are paper thin so you can... more

What a wonderful place, apparently its now downsized itself. However now on two occassions, March of 07 and November of 07 myself and a group of friends stayed here, with enough room for all eight of us to fit into two rooms easily. The furnishings, fittings are all contemporary and theres no problem with night time access. Breakfast you have... more

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel severel times, the first being 10 years ago, we were very surprised to find on this visit the hotel has become smaller, though making it a cosier hotel, it's clearly had lots of work done on it since our last stay, our room had recently been refurbished with new decoration and... more

DO NOT stay at the Drake Hotel in Plymouth. The front entrance looks okay but as soon as you step inside it stinks of stale smoke. There is a small bar just down a couple of steps from reception and every 10 mins or so the locals or friends of the owners make a mass exodus out the back door... more
