Let's start with the positives, when we checked in we asked for a seaview,we paid extra for a de luxe room,(no free upgrades for us),the room was huge ,the view was wonderful ,must be one of the most beautiful views in England ,balcony with sunbeds unfortunately the weather was against us for sunbathing.Everything was very clean and central heating came on... Booked as a last minute thing, we weren't sure what to expect. The receptionists were incredibly efficient and check in was quick, the room itself was tired and really hot (with windows which only opened slightly). The shower was really poor - don't expect a power shower! Also a bit rubbish that after forking out for a room you still... More

We stayed at the Imperial Hotel Torquay for a week from 11-18 May. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived. We were early but our room was ready and William helpfully transported our substantial luggage to our room on the top floor (and to our car on leaving). Facilities were everything we hoped for and the room was great.... More

We booked a long weekend in Torquay through Travelzoo and have to say it was wonderful - room was excellent, staff very attentive and food amazing. Yes its not what it was 20 years ago when it was a 5 star hotel but I could not have afforded to stay there then!! There were 6 of us in our party... More

We stayed here when our children were small, around 1990 and it was the height of luxury, so we anticipated a similar experience, this time, without having to attend to the needs of small children. What a disappointment. The hotel has changed hands and has become a run down, shabby establishment where the staff are simply not interested. Our superior room... More

I know Torquay is the home of Basil Fawlty but please, do the people who run these hotels never visit themselves. From the moment I arrived things were Fawltyesque. The car park is badly signposted, messy entry barriers, showing a shoddy maintenance. The entrance is grand, but what is with the terrible saxophone musak. I asked the receptionist, she replied... We paid £99 for one nights stay with a 3 course meal a bottle of wine and breakfast and it was well worth it. The food was lovely the room was very classic with a fantastic ocean view and the location to Torquay city centre is 5 minutes walk. would definitley stay here again.

We stayed here on a Travel Zoo deal - dinner, complimentary wine, bed and breakfast plus late check out. The hotel is a little shabby now and could really do with an overhaul/update, not to the standard of other hotels at this rating I have stayed at. Our room was very dated, although clean. There was no wine left for... More

Excellent sea view room. Dinner and breakfast was first class. Leisure facilities are very good, with a lovely warm swimming pool. Staff and service were excellent. Hotel is in an excellent location, 5 minutes walk from the harbour, shops and pubs etc.

I stayed here with a friend on the Thursday before Good Friday. After as arching for mid price hotels in the bay at £68.00 for a twin with breakfast this was only £8.00 more than room only at a premier inn... We joked about an upgrade upon booking in and were given an enormous room with a large balcony overlooking... More
