We have just got back from a Tinsel and Turkey weekend at the Richmond and first impression was that the hotel is in serious need of refubishment. The lady in charge was reading out the rules and regulations before handing out 50 keys which was extremly slow and the room we were given was not one of the nicestl! The... more

Reading some the other reviews, I reckon there must be TWO Richmond Hotels in Torquay. This one could not have been better: Beautiful, spacious room; wonderful view; friendly, efficient staff; everything was clean - totally spotless; excellent breakfast; great value. We will definttely stay here again. more

Its tough to get a place to stay when there are 7 guys in your group, the Richmond was fine with us. I was told over the phone that we could check in at 2pm, upon arrival it would be 4pm, was'nt impressed. The location is pretty good, we could walk into the town centre in about 20-30 minutes. Also... more

We only stayed 1 night (Saturday). Rules and regulations abound in this hotel - the nicest thing was the decking out back - it was so hot in the hotel. We stayed in a room overlooking a fire escape - the window had a screw nailed in to stop you opening it. The bathroom - although a good size left... more

Booked at the last minute and got what was available. Big mistake. The room we had was horrendous. The door creaked, the floorboards creaked, the view was of an old fire escape and our room was above the kitchens. The old sash window opened about 9 inches and the heat was unbearable. Kitchen staff congregate downstairs under the window and... more

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Sept 08 with our 2 young children. Initially I was wary as had read some disappointing reviews but was really pleased when we arrived. We arrived before check in time and managed to get a parking space in the small car park (limited parking), the staff were friendly and helpful and... more

On arrival we were given tea and coffee and the appearance of friendly good service - what we actually got was complete chaos with staff running round like headless chickens trying to give room keys to everyone (40). Rooms were satisfactory but bathroom very poor, dirty carpet, no safety rails and no shelves for toiletries. Service poor we had to... more

I went with a friend for two nights in April 2009 and we found the room, facilities and the location to be excellent. The rooms were spacious, the staff were helpful and we found it overall to be a very positive experience; at a very reasonable price. Ivor Timson more

The Hotel was ideally situated for us, sightseeing around the Torquay - Torbay area on the Saturday and headed over to Dartmouth and Dartmoor on the Sunday. We found the Hotel clean and well run, the bar/lounge area was comfortable and the staff very polite, attentive and eager to please. It was much better than we expected. It is difficult... more

I have to agree with the review written by JudeK52. The hotel has to be the worst I have ever stayed in. It was shabby, dirty and in desperate need of renovation. I had booked a room for 2 adults and my 2 year old daughter yet when I arrived the hotel had made no provision for the fact I... more
