If you enjoy your lamb not even pink, but uncooked, you'll love the lamb here, just about seared with bright red centre. Beef is very similar. When request made for it to be flashed, very reluctantly taken back to kitchens and returned to table with no real visible difference. Plates were crammed with food with the meat placed on top... more

A lovely room and clean also Fab surroundings We did however experience problems with the knowledge of staff Eg Questions about food menu and wine list seem to cause great difficulty to the extent we gave up and hoped for the best- which sadly was a mistake -maybe we caught them at a bad time? Flexibility regarding food choice was... more

My husband and I had two nights here at the beginning of October. The room was spacious and bright, and probably the most impressive tea/coffee tray we have seen in this country. Staff were very helpful. In terms of food and drink, the selection at the bar was impressive, and everything was well kept. The food was magnificent; all fresh,... more

Booked to stay at the Watermans Arms mid week, on business in the area. Extremely friendley welcome and shown to a lovely clean, spacious bedroom above the main bar. Very peaceful location. Food and Drink was very good value, with something to please all tastes! Staff were so helpful and friendley. As I was working in the area, I needed... more

Where do I start? What a place indeed. We come across this place completely by chance. A warm day and a pint of Palmers Best to die for. That was enough to ensure a night stay. So after booking in, we were taken to our room, right in the front, overlooking the riverside tables, four poster bed, room with charm... more

Cracking location for adults & kids with varying food offers to match. Book early when the sun is out as the place is packed. We ate both inside and in the Watershed (outside under cover), and they each came up with interesting, value for money food all served efficiently. Local produce was evident and the kids were well looked after... more

My partner and I stayed at The Watermans Arms in Devon at the end of November and I can't recommend it enough. It was absolutely perfect for a winters country retreat. With a stream running out to the front of the buidling and surrounded by Devon countyrside it is a lovely getaway and exactly what I had imagined for a... more

My family and I wanted a weekend away from the usual bustle of busy city life and upon the recommendation of a friend booked a long weekend away. The location is just outside Totnes, near Torbay. You have to travel through Devon country lanes to reach the Watermans Arms but it is worth the trip. The location beside a river... more

We had the wonderful experience of staying at this delightful establishment in july 2007. The food was excellent and together with the surroundings made the meals even more special. It was very nice to see a dog friendly beer garden along with a great selection of real ales and a fine wine list for the dinner menu. The staff were... more

The Watermans Arms is well worth a visit. Booked by phone after viewing their website. A friendly, warm atmosphere was to be found when I arrived and lasted rigt through the weekend. The setting was superb, right next to the river in a very quiet valley though the nearest town just a stone throw away. Great advantage was the free... more
