We stayed here overnight on a pre-Christmas break, as Totnes is a lovely place, & had a real "Christmassy" feel in the town... with mulled wine in the pubs & all the sparkling Xmas lights! I spent some time at the Old Forge in October. I did not mind the cold welcome others mentioned in their reviews but what I did mind was the very poor sound insulation between rooms and extremely noisy plumbing.
