We have just spent another lovely 3 nights at The Old Forge. We have stayed before and would never ever choose anywhere else. After a friendly welcome we went to our room. The weather was freezing, but the room was warm and cosy, with the radiator on full! There were the usual nice 'extras' of tea/coffee/milk/sugar and biscuits, plus bottled... More

We have just returned from staying at The Old Forge. My husband, son and I had Room 10,one of the family rooms. Our stay overall was positive in respect of the room was very clean, triple aspect so nice and light. The room also had a little roof terrace which in good weather would also help to give you the... Many thanks for your review. As you point out, The Old Forge is not a contemporary hotel but rather a quaint guest house with a lot of history. The building has lots of nooks and crannies and quirky features. My husband has been tidying up the roof terrace over the last few days. There are pots up there but we... More

We were only at The Old Forge for 1 night and found the exeperience very pleasant and it provided exactly what it said on the tin! The room and bathroom were functional and exceptionally clean with a decent courtesy tray and a comfortable bed. Excellent choices for breakfast with efficient service. A quiet central location, close to all the amentities... More

We stayed here overnight on a pre-Christmas break, as Totnes is a lovely place, & had a real "Christmassy" feel in the town... with mulled wine in the pubs & all the sparkling Xmas lights! Found our room to be warm & welcoming, as was very, very cold outside! Refreshments/biscuits available in room, no problem with our towels...clean & fluffy!... More

Me and my two daughters stayed here in september in the cottage suite and I can't believe anyone would complain about it ! It has two bedrooms, one with a double and one with a single bed and it was perfect, there's a little kitchenette and a little lounge with a bathroom. It's not the biggest suite ever but it... More

Stayed in the family suite (a converted garage). 2 bedrooms ( 1 with 2 single beds and another with 1 double bed). There was a small kitchen like area cramped in with a very small lounge sort of area. No cooker, but fridge, microwave, cutlery and sink was handy. It was very dated in serious need of decor. It was... More

We would like to make it clear, to any guests booked into the Cottage Suite in the near future, that it is most definitely not a 'converted' garage. It is the original Wheelwrights Cottage built alongside the Forge 600 years ago. The original stone wheel is set into the ground outside the cottage door. There has only ever been a... More

Another wonderful stay at this delightful B&B. A 'home from home', we have enjoyed coming back to the friendly and welcoming hosts and our lovely room. We have now stayed in room 11 through different months of the year and we were very pleased to return from the cold and wet October weather into a warm, clean and cosy environment.... More

I spent some time at the Old Forge in October. I did not mind the cold welcome others mentioned in their reviews but what I did mind was the very poor sound insulation between rooms and extremely noisy plumbing. Despite wearing earplugs I could hear everything from the adjoining room and from the room above and each time my neighbors... More

It is very frustrating when the first time you realise that there is a problem with a guests stay is when you read about it on Tripadvisor! If we had known that you had particularly noisy neighbours and that you were not happy, we would have gladly moved you to another room. There was an upstairs room vacant for the... More

This was our third visit to this wonderful B&B this year and it was a real pleasure to stay here again. Contrary to some of the reviews about poor service we have always felt welcome and accomodated for. ROOM: We chose to stay in the annex room again as it's become a favourite of ours with the decking and garden... More

We stayed here this weekend as it was close to Dartmouth and the cycling Tour of Britain. Good directions on the web site, useful parking, excellent location in the centre of Totnes. Slightly put off by the room being in an annex in the garden, you have to go outside and across the garden, okay in the dry, may not... More
