I booked this hotel 6 weeks in advance for 5 nights on the Old English Inns website for 5 nights bed and breakfast the total price was £40 yes that is right, The hotel were stunned when I gave them the confirmation but were very professional (They had £100 on their computer) and dealt with it very well, there were... more

This was not what Old English Inns advertised. More like Old Dirty Pub. The decor is sad and very worn, the reception area is bleak and unwelcoming and the breakfast was microwaved. None of the funtiure matches and many of the seats are wobbly and in need of replacing. Our room had non functional radiators (x2) with damp above the... more

Our first impression filled us with foreboding, small poky entrance, no welcome, wrong information on room, narrow staircase with worn carpets and decoration which needs updating but on reaching our room all was forgiven. We had a corner room with two sets of windows and a wonderful view out to sea. The room was large and airy with clean white... more

When we arrived (myself, husband and my parents) the appearance of the hotel disappointed us somewhat, as did the lack of parking spaces. On checking in, the staff member didn't fill us with confidence that we were going to enjoy our stay (a bit of customer service training for him wouldn't go amiss!). The route up to our rooms also... more

My wife & I have just returned from a 7 night stay at The Commodore on a b/b basis not having stayed there before. While it is a bit like the Curates Egg (good in parts) it does give great value for money. The b/fast was excellent, cooked to order & was available from 0700 until 1200 (surely a record... more

Having been a visitor of trip advisor for some time now - you have to think is anywhere safe; well we stayed at the Commodore and whilst it is not celubrious it is very functional. It has great views and exceptional friendly staff ( one chap appears to book you in, cooks you breakfast and serves you behind the bar!)... more

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, while visiting family who all live in the area. The room was lovely, spacious with wonderful views. Breakfast had one of the best choices we have had, and bar meals were very good value, at two for £9 99. The staff were very obliging, our car broke down whilst there, and they... more

Good atmosphere in the bar, clean room, GREAT views, very friendly and helpful (if not particularly organised) staff. Food was a bit of a let-down, despite some good quality ingredients. Medium-rare steak arrived well done, and poached eggs were twice served as if hard-boiled - two things which any chef worth his salt should be able to cook proficiently. Also,... more
