I have never written a review before but I feel John and Woody are deserving of me making the effort as they work hard to create something very special at the magical Hamilton Hall and I had a unique , relaxing and comfortable experience. Due to reading a few negative reviews to be honest I was slightly anxious before arriving but I am an open minded , adventurous person who can make my own judegements. Once I arrived John immediately invited me to sit and have a cup of tea, we spent a good while chatting and getting to know eachother, not the usual welcome one gets at a hotel . HH is more than a hotel . I booked because I didnt want my usual family Christmas but neither did I want to feel isolated in some anonymous establishment . HH has a really homely ambience which clearly John has invested a lot of love and creativity into. I was shown my room and it was warm , stylish , clean and comfortable . ( I spent a lot of time sleeping well in it !). All the permanent HH residents and guests gelled so well and it really was like discovering a new group of friends. The food was excellent , varied and plentiful . Woody is very attentive and pleasant and is clearly a crucial part of the Team effort . Some of us took walks to the beach which is easily accessible , we also went into Bournemouth centre . I was advised that " Eurovision " weekend is a fun time , so that is for a future trip . I would also like a Summer / garden trip , even better to renew these acquaintances . I strongly recommend this special place . …

I spent Christmas 2023 at Hamilton Hall and would like to recommend my positive experience. I particularly liked that the owner John is a very nice and sensitive person who knows how to understand each and every one of his guests. Christmas dinner was very good every day and like it was at mother's home. Everything was included in the price and you had the feeling of being at home or with your family. The prices are very reasonable and everything is included. The guests were also in harmony and good spirits, as if some kind of magic surrounded us in Hamilton Hall. Everyone could just be themselves and no one, whether dressed or not, felt uncomfortable in who they were. As soon as I returned to my home country of Spain, I booked a flight to return and celebrate New Year's Eve and New Year's Day at Hamilton Hall. So only 2 days have passed so I will fly there again tomorrow. It's like finding a family. The rooms are generously decorated and the beds are comfortable. I was in the center of Bournemouth in 10 minutes by bus and 30 minutes on foot. I can't wait to relax in the garden at Hamilton Hall in the summer.…

Spent a wonderful 4 days there over this Christmas. John greeted me and made me feel at ease straight away. Soon got chilled out, relaxed and enjoyed meeting other guests, it was like a family get together. Food was great (and plenty full). Plenty of entertainments and activities. John has a great way of pleasing his guests as well as a sharp wit which added to the experience. All the rooms were well appointed and clean (although I tried I did not visit every bedroom), Obviously being Christmas there were decorations everywhere, lost count of Christmas trees! If you want a proper camp time this hotel has it. If not your scene there are always Travelodge etc hotels for you. Give it a go, you will not experience anywhere like it.

Christmas is only as good as it is because of the people attending and we did have a laugh, and I think I have gained 10lb. Thanks for making this such a memorable period and it makes all the hard work and 18 hour days absolutely worth every second. Tanks for this, very much appreciated.

Me and my partner enquired about a discount that was on offer for the new year. We therefore were met with an unfriendly/unhelpful response from John who made it seem like we had done something wrong by asking about pricing with the discount. His response was derogatory and undermining by asking us how we ‘ignored the instructions’ and that if the instructions weren’t followed it was too much work for him to sort a discount. As far as we were aware the email that was sent out with the offer said to quote in the initial email ‘ HP24’ which would give the discount. Though if you do read further on in the email there is another code ‘ NC24’. Maybe it is not the potential customers fault for someone’s email having two code and wording that just doesn’t make much sense, maybe proof reading and some help would be better than trying to do everything on a one man band.…

Too many Karens. Love it. When someone completely ignores how to get a discount - and where the e mail promoting the discount indicated TWICE how to proceed and this person totally ignored anything and everything , then he does not get his discount. It is not exactly hard and yet he found it to be so and then complains when he is told he will have to pay the full amount. Too many people since Covid lockdown are behaving appallingly towards business and it is throughout the hospitality industry. Too many are badly behaved and then pass the buck and blame everyone else rather than accept they made a mistake. Not once did this person offer the various codes available for a discount. NOT ONCE and yet the e mail made it very clear and he ignored everything assuming he could do it his way. The weekend he wanted is fully booked as we are for Christmas and it is these people, who KNOW HOW TO MAKE A BOOKING CORRECTLY that I concentrate on. It goes two ways boys, you bark at me, I bark back.

Have stayed here twice and really loved it, was a few years ago though. John brings a lot of love, life and passion into the business. I have commented previously and given a good review 2015 or 2016 I think. Whilst I think positively in general, I do agree with some of the negative comments. On the first night for dinner my partner at the time and myself sat at the table to be told that is John's seat, he likes to be in charge and at the end of the table! We moved! John does like to "rule" which is a shame, he IS very interesting but listen also to the guests! I did feel that we were being talked at and was made to feel inferior! Saying that, the property is great, John CAN be very welcoming and it can be a great stay.....however... I would say, 1. Chill out John and be nicer 2. Don't slag off other customers 3. Sort out the website and reduce it 4. It does not repeatedly to be said that you are not for profit, as if you didn't make a working profit, you wouldn't still be in business 5. Basically I couldn't give a tinkers cuss if you have 2 or 30 teas for breakfast, that wouldn't make me want to stay 6. Do not reply in the way you do to "negative" comments, either turn it into a positive or don't answer, you make yourself look bitter and twisted You could have an even bigger business John and believe me, I like you, but think x…

This review is another that made me laugh - and I was just going to ignore it as you having a bad day - as after nearly 24 years in business and where we have a huge 95% repeat custom, I may be like Marmite and you may has chosen to find fault with me here - but not a word to me when staying and two previous positive reviews - I think you need to make your mind up one way or the other. If you don't like it, which clearly you DO as you have returned TWICE now - I must remind you there are - well actually - NO ALTERNATIVES like Hamilton Hall but I most certainly invite you to find a similar venue and then find it to be PERFECTLY to your liking. Is it THAT much of a bother to be asked to change seats at the dining table ? Is it REALLY that much of concern to you that you harboured that inside for so long to be mentioned here. ? How sad for you dear. We sit and dine with guests and sit nearest the kitchen door for ease in serving - and you had a problem with that ??? It's yours dear, you own that one. I slag off some customers as its the only joy in life I have ( joking ) just as you have attempted to slag me off here - what's the expression - physician heal thy self. The web site has its faults - and I work on it as best I can - and receives MILLIONS of hits a year - MILLIONS - and all you do is complain and yet tell ME to be more positive. You're having a laugh surely. Obnoxious comment about Not For Profit. Of course we make a profit - I've never said we don't - and all monies made are used to offer the free vacations for those in needs, free meals, free bedding for local homeless AND SO MUCH MORE and YES, maybe someone like YOU, NEEDS to be reminded how others work from the heart and not from the wallet all the time and yet YOU appear to HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT ? ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL. And to repeat myself - I DO NOT TAKE A WAGE - AT ALL - AND THAT'S HOW WE STAY FINANCIALLY OPEN, - So now try and find fault even with THAT. What you seem not to get - is that I will sell up and live in a tent in a field and NOT sell my soul to you or anyone else who tries to tell me how to run my business as I can do without that kind of arrogance and this is not me being negative ( although you certainly do offer so much negativity here it's hard to ignore ) this is me telling you to run YOUR business your way and leave me to run mine, my way. I find it hard that after some considerable time you now decide to write a long list of complaints that are so PETTY AND SMALL MINDED it beggars belief. How many teas we have - Where you sit at dinner - And I think any reader will read this and consider you not to be in a very positive head space that you moan about how many teas we have available ? How petty. I am like Marmite AND PROUD OF IT - and at least I have something to say and try and find the joy in life whereas you here, have nit picked throughout and you REALLY need to look at your own inner core as to why you find it so necessary to moan about the teas - as it's comical dear. If I didn't have the tea you like, you'd moan all over again. Clearly, not in a good head space dear. With a full house for our Pre Christmas Naked Chill Out Another full house for Christmas - I have a very busy period coming up and I shall run it - MY WAY - with OVER 45 TEAS - as a not for profit and where we help thousands every year and Marmite or not, my very being - my very personality - helps and heals many - and you clearly resent that. Very sad. .

Back here again at Hamiltin Hall, Why would you want to go anywhere else. Hamilton Hall is perfect for you to just chill with like minded guys and enjoy beautiful Bournemouth. I was in room 3 it was stunning and I was amazed at the size of the room. Breakfast was included ( Continental) although a cooked breakfast is offered for a reasonable price, I was wonderfully looked after by the delightful Woody. John as always was a delight with his wonderful tales. Dinner was beautiful all home cooked and only £20 Inc desert & Wine "Bargain". On Saturday night we all chilled in the lounge and chinked a few glasses of wine and John & Woody provided a wonderful Karoke night where we all sang along , laughed and joked. It was wonderful. Another Amazing stay and I'm back for Christmas so can not wait. If you can get booked in for Christmas then do it, it's wonderful. Thanks John & Woody see you in 5 weeks.…

ENTITLED. That's all this man was acting ' ENTITLED' and is no more than your average Karen. Entitled. I cannot even begin to tell you the look of utter ENTITLEMENT on his face when I told him he was early and he could go sit in the lounge and wait… just made us all laugh. He was horrified – not once apologising – and he acted as if he was astounded anyone – ANYONE – would have the NERVE to tell him he was rude in being so early and obnoxious for his entitled attitude. I have always said I will sell up and live in my campervan rather than sell my soul to someone for a £10 coffee morning. Hamilton Hall is NOT FOR PROFIT and I have not taken a wage in 24 years – We give away scores of weekends and week long periods every year to those in need and where is this entitled mans donation towards that - - Oh don’t make me laugh – we all know exactly the kind of person he is. He was 20 minutes early. He rang the door bell twice as if once didn’t tell him something yet he chose to ring twice. I had JUST sat down to have my breakfast before the Coffee Morning started – and you get this entitled man ringing and demanding entry and I did bark as I am fed up with arrogant entitled people taking advantage and this kind of person can sling his hook and is not welcome here. Not that he’ll be back and its not as if he has a massive choice of venues to go to. he doesn't. Hamilton Hall gets over 90% repeat custom. So we are doing something right ( and we have been here for 24 years ) and entitled people, beware, you will be put in your place if you act up. You just spoil it for everyone else and you may leave negative reports on various sites but it makes no difference to my custom base and many LOVE how I do not stand for bullies or entitled brats throwing their weight around and laugh their heads off with respect for how I DO NOT TOLLERATE BAD ATTITUDES. I would not have survived running a men only ‘ gay’ hotel if I wasn’t bold enough to tell someone like this where to sling their hook as the amount of abuse thrown at ALL gay venues, BY GAY MEN – is appalling and most venues close down NOT because of Brexit OR Covid - but because they get sick of attitude fools like this man who really should know better yet he acts like some petulant brat of a little boy throwing his toys out of the pram because he got his botty smacked ( metaphorically speaking ) by Nanny. It’s okay for him to abuse us – and when we take a stand and point out his entitled attitude sucks - – he doesn’t like it. Poor baby.

Married man with kids resentful no one paid him any attention. Late 60's at best - so not a young thing himself, He had an intimate relationship - in the garden and witnessed by our staff and neighbours - so VERY indiscrete - with the heavy drinker he is complaining about - and we do not limit or police how much people drink unless they become offensive - He was obnoxiously rude to everyone and left leaving all exterior doors wide open putting us all at risk and our young puppy got out and a squirrel ransacked our entrance conservatory - and this deliberate act was unforgiveable - and I e mailed and told him off harshly and for which I charged him £50 for the damage caused - offering a refund if he simply apologised, which he was not man enough to do so;- so the charge stood. He had one of those thoughtless attitudes and arrogance where he assumed everyone would be all over him like a rash - but no one liked him. I DO NOT promise fun, how bizarre is his comment - as that would be treating me like a pimp. Who does he think he is - and he actually stated just that comment ' Don't you know who I am ?' as if it would make a blind bit of difference. He was a boring old man who resented not being centre stage and having others fawn all over him. Naturally, customers like him are rare and his lies about the venue being run down, after a total refit and redecoration and all new beds and bedding just 18 months ago, is just him being nasty, but then, that is what we expect from people like this. So he now throws his dolls out of the pram in temper while we - actually - have pity on him as he is clearly not a happy bunny.

This hotel is unusual in that it's for men only, which is the reason I went for three days in August. I was warmly greeted personally on arrival by the management and immediately felt welcome. The room I was in was clean, reasonably spacious, with all the necessary facilities, and was certainly excellent value for money. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well on all three nights without disturbance, despite having the window open. The accommodation was for bed and breakfast, but dinner was available for a small extra fee, and turned out to be a convivial occasion every time, with the owner and staff joining the guests for some excellent food, wine and conversation. Hamilton Hall is within easy walking distance of the multitude of shops at Boscombe, and Bournemouth itself can easily be accessed on foot (40 minutes), by bike (hire is available locally) or on the frequent and well-patronised buses. There is a small but sheltered and un-overlooked garden at the side - good for some sunning when the weather is appropriate. Excellent accommodation in all respects, and I can unreservedly recommend it to all who are interested. …

Spend a week at Hamilton Hall, although the weather wasn't great it was close enough to get to the seafront and the town for walking and anything from the shops. John and Woody were very friendly, with entertaining chat and good food, very relaxing time spent with them and the other guests. Will be going back again.
