Just returned from a lovely break at the Wessex. Our second time at this hotel (I never go back to the same hotel twice!) The Wessex is a great base with good rooms and outstanding food. The kids had a lots of fun in the pools and enjoyed to evening entertainment. I wouldn't hessitate in recommending this hotel. more

Despite having read that this hotel came out quite well in Trip Advisor's ratings booked with some trepidation knowing this type of hotel of old. Was favourably impressed. Nice hotel. Staff professional and efficient. Rooms are comfortable. The food was delicious- compliments to the kitchen staff who all too often don't get the praise they deserve! Good value hotel in Bournemouth close to the sea and restaurants (and BIC). No sea views as far as I know. Rooms have nice old furniture (one of us got a luck huge room but most are probably normal size). Breakfast OK. Only improvement they could make is teaching check-in staff to be more polite.... more
