The hotel looks like it has seen better day's, although some money has been spent on the reception area, maybe to try and get people through the door. There are a few facilities such as Gym, sauna and pool which are all nice things to have at a Hotel. Unfortunately my stay was not pleasent as I got a few... more

My other half was here for a conference. The reception area and the bar are very nice indeed. Prices are not any higher in the bar than any other hotel bar. The car park is very good and spacious. When you leave the reception area the 2000s go away and you find yourself, in our corridor, in the 1980s/90s. The... more

Stayed at the Wessex for a long weekend booked by others. We actually had a really good weekend inspite of the hotel, not thanks to it. The organisers are really good people, I suspect they felt just as let down by the hotel. (My wife and I are very seasoned and regular travelers; this is the worst hotel we have... more

I booked a Preimum room and the room we got was large and clean although the decor was dated. The hotel itself is in a good location near the town centre and the parking is great. The good points were the hotel location, parking and the size of the rooms. The breakfast was very good too. The bad points were... more

This is unusual; I rarely find myself in disagreement with other reviewers but in this case my experience was completely different. This may be because I booked through conference package and was placed in a tiny single room but other members of my party shared a similar experience. So what was wrong? Firstly the room was scruffy, poorly lit and... more

This hotel was booked very much at the last minute, for our party of 5 (we had 1 twin, and 3 single rooms). The hotel was the best I could find (with late availability), based on reviews on this site. Overall, our experience was very much a blend of the previous reviews. The staff were excellent; a mixture of UK... more

Just returned from a lovely break at the Wessex. Our second time at this hotel (I never go back to the same hotel twice!) The Wessex is a great base with good rooms and outstanding food. The kids had a lots of fun in the pools and enjoyed to evening entertainment. I wouldn't hessitate in recommending this hotel. more

Despite having read that this hotel came out quite well in Trip Advisor's ratings booked with some trepidation knowing this type of hotel of old. Was favourably impressed. This is a largish Edwardian hotel. 3 star and well located a short walk from the beach and about 10 minutes from the town centre. Has advantage of FREE and ample parking.... more

Nice hotel. Staff professional and efficient. Rooms are comfortable. The food was delicious- compliments to the kitchen staff who all too often don't get the praise they deserve! Tasty and hot- well done! This is our second visit to the Wessex and we will be returning next year for our annual weekend in November. Good value for money! Thank you! more

Good value hotel in Bournemouth close to the sea and restaurants (and BIC). No sea views as far as I know. Rooms have nice old furniture (one of us got a luck huge room but most are probably normal size). Breakfast OK. Only improvement they could make is teaching check-in staff to be more polite.... more
