My wife and I stayed for three nights and were extremly happy with everything. The staff at all levels were helpful and pleasent. As the weather was appalling during our stay we decided to have our evening meals at the hotel. This turned out to be a good choice as the food and service was superb. Our bedroom with sea veiw... more

The hotel is in a class of its own in evoking the 1930's atmosphere. However, we found that the restaurant was closed when we visited. We had to cancel a planned dinner for local relatives, go to lunch with them elsewhere, and rely on the brasserie for just the two of us for dinner. The brasserie food was overcooked in... more

Thank you for your compliments regarding the compliment, you seemed to enjoy your stay with the exception of catering, which I was very surprised to hear. Firstly the main ding room being closed would not affect your lunch, as it is only open for breakfast and dinner. We have only ever offered Lunches in our brasserie. The main dining room...

We found the hotel very comfortable, (especially the beds). Staff very pleasant polite and helpful. Food excellent. It is in a lovely position and in the summer months must be so relaxing by the pool. Definitely the best seaside hotel I've stayed in in England. more

The Hotel advertised a gym. This was why i booked it. I do not expect to be thrown out of a very substandard room with a few mats on a floor by a neanderthal masquerading as a gym instructor. The sauna didnt work either. The room was ok and the breakfast good, dont advertise something as a gym if it... more

Thank you for an excellent review on The Cumberland Hotel, regarding the gym at the SUNCLIFF Hotel, I am sorry about your run in with the Gym instructor, however he is not employed by the hotel, and the gym is not at Cumberland. I will speak with him when I see him next and although i feel it unfair to...

I have stayed in The Cumberland three times now, and you pretty much get what you pay for. I have had decent rooms, pleasant breakfasts and kind service. The good points are; a very nice location overlooking the sea, five minutes walk from town. A friendly, predominantly East European staff. Good-sized rooms (with one exception). Very enjoyable breakfast buffet. Reasonable... more

Thank you for your kind and honest review, I am very pleased that you regularly choose to stay with us and find food and service excellent. regarding hot water, we have just spent three days shutting down the hot water to address the glitches in some rooms, so hopefully from tomorrow this will be done. The TV's are being replaced...

I have to congratulate this hotel for the excellent service, food and staff attitude during my 3 day stay, the hotel itself is beautiful and the Christmas spectacle is amazing, my room was great, clean, but most of all the service and exra mile the staff go for customers is evident here, i will definitly return more
