The Old Manor is a wonderful bed and breakfast experience. The owner, Andrew Thomson, has very high standards. The Manor is set in lovely grounds in beautiful Dorset and itself is an historic and interesting building. Enjoyed a wonderful stay at this Elizabethan manor house. Owner was charming and happy to explain the building's amazing good fortune in being saved, at the last minute, from demolition in the 60s when in a decayed state and no longer wanted by its then owner, Dorset County Council. We enjoyed a short and sweet one night stay at The Old Manor whilst visiting Dorset for a friend's wedding. We received a great welcome and were shown around our room, actually, suite, which included a lovely sitting room, four poster bedroom and bathroom with overhead shower. The Old Manor is a gorgeous Manor house on the grounds of the Kingston Maurward college in Dorset, restored and kept to a very high standard. Originally built in 1590. Even Thomas Hardy's novel 'Desperate Remedies' makes reference to the Manor! For those who enjoy staying in a hotel with modern comforts but with a slice of history in beautiful... more
