Both my wife and I have just returned from a last minute short break holiday to Swanage and this family hotel. What a wonderful surprise. From beginning to end, we found the staff so very helpful and friendly. The menu's at all meals were an absolute surprise and delight - both in choice, the quality of food and the manner... more

My wife and I wanted to visit Swanage again after many years, the last time being when our children were small and we spent much time on the beach with them. We read both the good and the bad reviews of various local hotels on Tripadvisor, and we selected The Pines Hotel.I did not mention to my wife some of... more

Hotel is situated at the end of a no through road and has large car park and quiet location. Spacious lounge with lots of light. Reception very courteous and friendly. Service excellent as was the food both at dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is served to you at your table. Where this hotel really gets you is the fabulous views from... more

Delighted to find that this year the whole lounge area had been tastefully revamped. We chose a sea-view room with balcony this year instead of Downs view - but both are fine. Clean, comfortable and spacious with very speedy room clean while at breakfast every day. Dining Room has fantastic views and wonderful food also attentive service. Always meet up... more

Lovely location, view from room - fantastic. Great if you have a dog with you or don't mind everything covered in dog hairs and an overwhelming smell of dog. Balcony obviously used as a dogs toilet. Management, when approached, very dismisive of our observations. more

After a very late booking and checking on Trip Advisor ,we really didn't know what to expect. Yes, externally the building does look shabby but this is soon forgotten once you go inside and the views from the garden are to die for. The Reception, bar area and restaurant must have been refurbished since some of your earlier reviews, now... more

It was my birthday and my fiance had wanted to take me away for a romantic weekend. On arrival at 8.10pm after a long arduous journey we checked in and freshened up. On discovering that the restaurant stopped taking orders for dinner at 8.30...we hastily telephoned reception at 8.32 to book a table as we were tired and hungry and... more

We have just returned from a fantastic four days at the Pines Hotel. Initially our room faced on to the car park and a window would not open. We telephoned reception who sent for a window engineer who came within 20 mins and said the problem could not be easily fixed while the room was occupied. The Pines Hotel moved... more

Despite previous reviews we found the hotel in a superb location with our room although perhaps not quite as large as we could have wished for very comfortable, with a view to die for out into Swanage Bay and along the coast. We spent time on the balcony and much enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Jurassic Coast and many... more
