I booked this hotel as a treat for my husband's birthday on a good recommendation. Unfortunately there were only standard rooms available, but I was reassured by the description of these rooms on the hotel's website as "luxurious with modern bathrooms". The room itself (No 19) was OK, at the top of the house, with nice side views, and quiet.... more

A total shambles with respect to booking. I booked, with great care, two rooms for single occupancy for me and my mother-in law for her 70th birthday. They confirmed the booking by phoning me. On arrival, there was only one room available. After 30 mins, they admitted that they had made a mistake and offered me (but ONLY me) a... more

We have just returned from a visit to the Sea Marge. Before going, I looked at this website and was a little concerned by some of the negative views. I am so glad that didn't stop me booking as I loved this hotel. From the moment you sweep onto the gravel drive and see the gorgeous building and mass of... more

Stayed in the Lighthouse suite. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Very disappointed in the standard of decoration. The wallpaper badly hung, stained and peeling. The rugs in the rooms were grubby. Scaffolding outside of window. Obviously in process of repainting outside but luckily didn't wake up to decorators outside of window first thing in the morning! Excellant views... more

Have just arrived home after a 2 night stay. This hotel is out of this world. We stayed in the Lighthouse suite and the views were magnificent. I made a mistake with the booking and we arrived 1 day too early, but this was not a problem. The receptionist suggested we went though to the bar and the room would... more

The Sea Marge bill themselves as great for families, and yet with all the rules and regulations it really didn't feel that way: "eat before 7pm if you have children", "make sure children are well behaved", "children not allowed in the lounge". They really are missing a trick - they have beautiful extensive gardens and it's just a walk down... more

Stayed as a single business traveller. Easy check in. Pleasant English staff, very helpful. Room was clean, furnished nicely. LCD TV. Very nice Ribeye steak :-) Bit quiet midweek as a single traveller in May, but a pub down the road. more

Having booked over the internet a few weeks ago, i was very excited to be staying at the this hotel. It looked clean and tidy, looked modern and up-to-date with a quirky history to it. We upgraded to the luxury suite in the west wing of the hotel overlooking the sea (and the rotten horse cart!) The decor looked as... more
