What a gem - Everything was perfect, the room dinner in the evening and breakfast. Everything was done for the guests comfort - there was even a heater and comfortable chairs on the balcony. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, the owner and staff were very friendly.

This old colonial-style guesthouse/hotel (only six rooms) in the gently rolling Sussex downs provides a wonderfully friendly and comfortable stay. Situated in the medieval village of Alfriston - a picturesque place of tearooms, restaurants and guesthouses in ancient buildings that lean precariously over the winding narrow main street. The owner, a local man, is present most of the time as... More

The most comfortable, luxurious and individual house that I have come across to stay in; the rooms and restaurant are fabulous and there is a beautifully kept garden. The staff are extremely accommodating and Nick Denyer ensures that the high standards are maintaned throughout. Even in this cool summer they take the trouble to light the wood burner in the... More

We stayed overnight for my husband's birthday. A warm and friendly welcome was followed by tea and cookies on a huge leather sofa in the lounge room near the crackling fire. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and had a huge, comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was large with a lovely deep bath and Hermes toiletries. We... More

We stayed at Wingrove House whilst walking the South Down's Way. We arrived to a very welcoming reception from Nick the owner, who brought us lovely coffee and shortbread on the veranda. Nick made us feel very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. He even offered us some fruit and bottled water to take with us on our outward... More

We are lucky enough to live close to this fab place. Dinner and lunch are just wonderful. The menus are fresh and the food delicious. A good choice of menu and wonderful flavours and tastes. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by a lovely garden which is great to sit and have drinks in during the summer months, and right by... More

I stayed here with a girl friend when we were doing the South Downs walk. What a charming place . The twin room with en suite was immaculate ( a little noisy as it was on the road side ) The food in the bistro was suburb & excellent value . I had the steak followed by a trio of... More

We only stayed at Wingrove House for the one night and wish we could have stayed longer - having walked (mostly in the rain) for much of the day the warm welcome was much needed and the stay in general felt more like it was with in a friends house than at a guest house. The room and the food... More

Warm welcome on arrival. Loved the room, ( No 1). Clean, fresh decor, large bathroom and overlooks the church. Also, away from the road. Food was fab, as was the service. Excellent breakfast, with wide choice. Looking forward to another stay in the autumn. Many thanks to Nick and his staff.

I recently stayed at the Wingrove for my boyfriend's birthday while we were visiting a friend. From the beginning the owner, Nick, was prompt, professional, informative and attentive. When we checked into the hotel, I can't quite describe the decor as there's the exterior which resembles the old plantations of colonial America - mixed with a mild, non-agressive hint of... More
