This B&B is particularly suited to couples with children - Rory and Pippa have three young children themselves and offer things like late-night and early-morning baby-sitting so couples can have a night out and a lie-in the following morning. We actually came here on our own as a stop when wlaking the South Downs way, and even though we noticed... more

We stayed at Riverdale House after reading the reviews about Rory and Pippa's approach to children / babies - having a 9 week old baby, this was an important consideration for us. Everything we read about Rory and Pippa's welcoming approach was certainly true and for our first trip with our baby we could not have chosen a better venue.... more

My husband & I stayed at the Riverview Guest House for one night recently, and were delighted with the place. The room was large with an excellent en-suite bathroom, very clean & comfortable, and some lovely homely touches like fresh coffee & biscuits in the room. The living areas were beautiful & well kept, and breakfast in the morning was... more

We stayed at Riverdale House for 1 night on our walk along the South Downs Way. It is perfect as it is en route and being just outside of Alfriston, quiet and in a lovely setting. more

We stayed here as a family of four (with baby in a travel cot and toddler on an airbed) for a weekend in January. Our hosts were extremely friendly and we were made to feel from the outset that young families were welcome here. The room itself was great - homely but with a modern shower and bathroom. Fantastic tea... more

We have just returned from a most enjoyable couple of days staying with Rory & Pippa at Riverdale House while hiking.on the South Downs and enjoying the local pubs and restaurants. One's hosts are charming and extremely helpful, and the house is spacious, elegantly decorated and spotless. It's a late Victorian tile-hung huge semi-detached house, half a mile outside the... more

A nice location in Alfriston, good views out the front. Car park / approach to the house a bit muddy, take care. Room was fairly traditional, a few modern touches, flat TV, fresh milk, nice tea and coffee facilities. Showerroom small, but a great power shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good, all ingredients high quality and... more

Small is beautiful! I'm not talking about Riverdale House itself, which is a lovely, large, semi-detached B&B overlooking the South Downs. Rather the owners believe that it is the little things that make the difference such as having fresh milk (in a refrigerator) in the rooms to make tea and coffee and a torch to go with the room keys... more

We stayed at Riverdale House for the second time over the Easter Weekend. We were assigned the Garden Room, a good-sized double room on the ground floor, with, as the name suggests, french windows looking out over the garden. While the weather was dreadful, the welcome and service was excellent. We were even given a heater and extra blankets in... more

We stayed here over the Easter break with our two children (three and six). Our hosts were very welcoming to us and particularly so to our children. Our room was tastefully decorated with many original features. It was fairly large even with two extra beds in. The bed was very comfortable. The room featured flat screen TV, tea and coffee... more
