Agree with others in that the hotel is looking tired in parts including the room we were allocated. We were three couples away for 1 night for a 50th birthday treat. The hotel was late in having our rooms ready on time, although offered us pre-dinner drinks by way of apology. First stay at the Grand and it was excellent. Great position , good room with a huge bed. Side room but could see sea and wreck of West Pier. I have recently returned from a long week-end at the Grand Hotel with my husband and his 89 year old mother. There are a few steps at the entrance to the hotel which my mother-in-law found a little difficult, but apart from that check-in was very efficient. Stayed at this hotel early October 2009. Reserved a sea view room - but this was unacceptable to us. Moved (at extra cost) to a larger balcony sea view room which was O.K.
