If you are looking to hang with the beardy, jaunty hat wearing, manbag holding, DJing, organic food Brighton crowd don't come here. If you like to quaff sherry, are a monarchist, blue-blooded type and not terribly fussy you'll be OK. This hotel to be fair was clean, efficient and seemed to be well run, however, many of the interiors and... more

We had our wedding reception at The Courtlands and first impressions were good. The conference and banqueting manager was helpful and reassuring during the months leading up to our wedding day. However the day before my wife to be dropped off some decorations as agreed with the C&B manager and she unfortunately reduced my wife to be to tears by the... more

The ONLY negative thing that can be written about such a fantastic day is the staff at the Courtlands (most) - the wedding co-ordinator had my sister in tears the day before her wedding - was rude and offensive throughout the day to both the bride and groom and guests!!!!! the rooms were outdated, filthy and in great need of... more

I stayed in a twin room at the Courtlands for the August Bank Holiday. The hotel was the ideal location for me to visit my family in Hove and they also had parking so it made sense to stay there. A two night stay was £195. Let's start with the positives: The cleaning staff could not be faulted. They were... more

Other reviews on this site made me worry that booking the Courtlands would be a horrible experience, but I think that other reviewers are just quite fussy! We stayed in a big double room Friday to Sunday to be close to a friend's wedding. The room had a nice high sloping ceiling and plenty of space - the bathroom was... more

This is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!! There was bulding works that we weren't told about whic woke us up at 8am Saturday morning!! The rooms were spacious and well laid our but dated and filthy! The reception staff were uninterested and unhelpful. The seagulls seems to congregate every mornin in their hundreds on the... more

On the plus side the room was clean and the off street parking was a massive bonus, but thats about the only good things I can say about this hotel. It is very over priced and needs a massive face life. The pool isn't working and the view out of my room window over looked a building site which is... more

We read all the reviews on this site after we had booked this hotel and therefore had quite a low expectation! In practice we found the hotel very good, certainly much better than expected. With 2 adults and 2 young children we booked a family room. This turned out to be more like a suite with a large double room,... more

This hotel costs over £100 / night and you will be sorely disappointed if you stay. The rooms look like they haven't been decorated in 30 years, the bed was about the same age, the bed clothes (1 sheet, 1 blanket?) maybe older, the bathroom basic, the windows practailly falling out they banged so much all night. Awful. The pictures... more

Went there on a business trip with another colleaue and 4 German doctors. The hotle is shabby with dated room decor. Carpets are ill fitting in corridors; surely an accident waiting to happen. Room was very hot as we stayed in a rare warm period, but opening the windows meant all night we heard loud seaguls. Had a conference room... more
