We stayed at The Holiday Inn, Brighton – Seafront, UK, for just one night in June this year. It was supposed to be a trip down memory lane for my husband, who had studied in Brighton, 20 years ago. He had booked the Holiday Inn with great expectations. The first thing they hit you with is an additional £15 charge... more

Thank you for your feedback regarding Adrian during your stay. All standard rooms will state that rooms do not have seaview views and overlook the city.

We weren't expecting to see the Hanging Gardens of Babylon from our bedroom window but nor did we expect builders trash, rusty railings and crusty underwear. Unfortunately that is exactly what we got once we managed to see past the filth on our 5th floor window. Nor were we impressed by the frayed carpet, broken sink, grimey light switch and... more

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you found these items and assure you that immediately following receiving your feedback where possible immediate action has been taken. The AA yearly inspect all hotels and issue rating at time. It is a lengthy unannounced visit that can happen at any time of year. I am confident in their rating system...

This is quite possibly the worst Hotel I have stayed in. Definitely one for the "Hotel inspector" The first thing they hit you with is an additional £15 charge just to park your car in the Hotel's car park for the night. The en suite bathroom was in a nutshell falling to pieces and in great need of "updating" .... more

I am always surprised when guests do not book inclusive breaks then negatively give feedback about this. I would always strongly advise to all guests that they book breakfast or dinner inclusive if they will be taking these items as our pricing will always make this cheaper. Alternatively perhaps it would be better to read package inclusions on booking stage....

Brighton really needs a good hotel. Unfortunatley this isn't it. There's quite a bit of muck around this hotel and a few dubious habits. The main one is giving 'filtered' water in your room and on conference tables which tastes like the bottles have been filled from the tap. We chose to buy water from the shop down the road.... more

Management response from
BHTSF_GM, General Manager

Thank you for your feedback. I am unsure what you mean by some of your comments but will where I can respond. We have moved to filtered water as part of our environmental policy and demands from guests. This policy avoids the use of unnecessary wastage of glass/plastic. If you received this in your bedroom then you must have been...

During recent heatwave-pleasure to find all rooms are air conditioned. This end of Brighton much better away from all the noise at the Pier end. Brilliant seafacing room with balcony overlooking the iconic West Pier, and the newly restored Victorian Bandstand. Very friendly helpful staff. Food good and had no need to venture out to alternative restaurants. more

Management response from
BHTSF_GM, General Manager

Thank you for your feedback. All our rooms here are individually air conditioned which not many hotels in Brighton have. Im pleased you enjoyed the seaview room you stayed in and trust you found the addtional supplement for these rooms well worth the extra. The band stand has only just been restored and we are delighted that it has now...

Just stayed at holiday inn on friday night firstly from outside looks pretty hideous but theres not a great deal management can do about that i guess, however once you go inside the decor is nice and most importantly all staff from management to cleaners were friendly and helpful would stay again and for price value is excellent. more

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to place them here. In the grand scheme of plans for the building exterior works are planned but in the present climate priority is on ensuring the standards for the interior of the hotel are kept to the four star standard guests are expecting. We look forward to welcoming you...

£99 midweek stay inclusive of breakfast Awful looking building which should never have got the go ahead from town planning...ex council estate perhaps?? Hotel downstairs, apartments on upper levels. On seafront with main road, so location can not be beat. Old run down hotel, 3 star. I paid for a partial sea view room and shouldnt have bothered, the windows... more

Management response from

Thank you for your feedback. I agree in hindsight when planning was allowed that the design of the building had a shelf life but unfortunately currently there is little that can be done but in the grand scheme of things plans are in place in our ongoing rolling programme. There is high demand for guests to be able to see...

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night in June. I must say that we had a really good time. The staff at check in were very nice and because I am a Platinum cardholder with Priority Club Rewards, we were given a fab upgrade to a seaview room with a balcony. I had originally booked a standard room using... more

Thank you for your feedback. Platinum members are always a priority to receive a complimentary upgrade due to the value placed on the time spent with the family of Intercontinental Brand of hotels. Where ever possible when availability allows we will do this. The discount given in the bar is our way in Brighton of personally thanking platinum members. I...

I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the Holiday Inn on the Brighton seafront. From the outside it looked like a fairground – the drive up to the hotel is lined with strange concrete balls in garish Holiday Inn green. Fortunately the large, comfortable room was more tasteful – neutral colours and modern art. But the TV gave me... more

Management response from

I know the building itself is not the best looking building Brighton but thank you for your feedback regarding the green bollards at the front of the hotel. I am sorry the TV aerial was not plugged in when you checked in. All rooms are provided with one bar of soap, face cloths and bath/shower gel from dispensers as standard....

Paid £200 for a Friday night stay with a seaview. The water in the bathroom was tepid both in the evening and the next morning. Initially a £20 reduction was offered. This was increased to a £70 reductioin once we were able to speak to the manager two days later. The room was very 'tired'. The seaview as fantastic. more

Management response from
BHTSF_GM, General Manager

Thank you for your comments The weekend you stay we experienced a major flood in our plant room causing major disruption to the hotel. I sincerely apologise for this and assure you that this has now been resolved. It is disappointing to read that you felt the room to be tired.
