Stayed over this weekend in the main suite which was a bit tired water sained ceilings in three places and in need of total redecoration. Someone had tried to design it well in the 1980's and failed. Service was poor in parts - room service salad with no dressing,no mini bar no bathrobes as per web site ect. We were... more

Having stayed in this hotel some years ago, we went back expecting the same. This was a mistake. We would echo the comments made by the majority within this site - the hotel is in dire need of investment. Everyone who stayed here (some 6 of us) found something totally unacceptable for the money we paid - noise, rattling windows,... more

I have stayed in a number of Barcelo hotels throughout the UK, either with my wife or on my own for business and this was bar far the worst. The hotel receptionist was very unwelcoming. Without any prompting she said "You can't book in until 2 so don't even ask" Not the best welcome after a long drive and we... more

I agree with other reviews...the hotel does have a tired feel to it, in need of some upgrades and updating. The room was okay, not particularly dirty, but could be cleaner and more attention paid to details. The bathroom could use some updating and renovation, too small for 2 people to share. Our room faced the channel, but lo and... more

We agree with Nick of Beckenham. We also stayed at this hotel as part of a large group (30+) and the general impression of the group was that the hotel was in decline and did not warrant 4 star classification. On the basis of environment (filthy windows, cracked tiles) and service (particularly at breakfast) we would rate the hotel no... more

I don't know what all the complaining is about. We got a bargain staying here. The hotel looked was nice and clean. The check in was quick and easy, the staff were friendly and polite. Lift up was a bit slow, but nothing major. The room was a good size, TV, tea and coffee making facilities. All the usual stuff..... more

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while attending a Conference in Brighton. Check-in took ages, staff were very slow. When we saw the room we were very disappointed. The whole hotel is "tired" and could do with a full refurbishment. In our room the paint was chipped, tiles cracked, windows wouldn't stay open (we wedged the window in the... more

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in, dirty noisy and just in need o a whole renovation. We had to change rooms 3 times due to the rooms being unclean and also freezing cold, even the last room they put us in, which was a suite, was still not very nice at all, I... more

Last weekend my husband and I had a two night break at the Ship Hotel. We arrived early at around 11am and were checked in and given our room immediately. We have a Barcelo loyalty card and received an upgrade on our room as anticipated. The room was on the top floor - it was clean, spacious and well appointed.... more

I found the resception service impersonal and unwelcomin g. Having looked at previous comments, I requested a renovated room, only to be told that all rooms are the same. If this is the case, then most people would be disappointed. The room I was allocated was small (opening the door knocked into the bedside table) with a tiny window. The... more
