Decided to stay at the hotel, based on the reputation of some of the other hotels in the chain. Was very disapointed. Reception area good, staff efficient but not friendly. Car parking £15 per night, full, only 50 spaces - parking attendant less than helpful. Room lavishly furnished, but rather faded, Windows both inside and outside not clean - bathroom,... more

Date 11th April - 13th April Booked through superbreak.com What a surprise booked at a good rate and when we arrived we were impressed. The staff are very attentive and extremely pleasant. Ok so the evening meal was not brilliant but it was not disgusting. With an all inclusive price of half board it was no more than I expected... more

This hotel is situated in a brilliant location, right on the seafront and within a stone's throw of the pier, shopping in the Lanes and just about everything else in Brighton. Walking into the hotel, it is understated but very pleasant. A nice bar, the food in the restaurant was pretty good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Arriving... more

OK. I have given the Old Ship an above average rating because mostly it is. The exterior is a little plain apart from the garish red paint of the adjacent bar/restaurant area (why red??!) but manages to convey a sense of "Olde Shipe". The lobby area is a mass of old wood and comfy chairs giving a slight gentleman's club... more

I have been staying on and off at this hotel since 1999. Reception staff are helpful - But this time maybe it was the seashell theme (shells on the swirly orange hall carpet and shell door handles on the bathroom), the cold room or the tinned gratefruit at breakfast - in future I think I deserve something better! more

We had family visiting us over Easter and live in Brighton. We needed a good quality central hotel that would accommodate a family of 4, 2 adults,a 3 year old and a baby. I booked a family room at The Old Ship Hotel, for the bargain price of £89 incl of tax and breakfast. The room was very large, more... more

We booked this through lastminute.com's Top Secret Hotels and when I read the reviews I was mortified and really worried. However, when I rang to confirm the day before I asked to be given a refurbished room and we were. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised given how worried we'd been. The room was large, recently decorated (if not... more

I have just returned from a Business trip to Brighton. Brighton in winter is one boring place. Everyday, after leaving work at around seven PM, I found nothing but a restaurants and bars to choose from and absolutely nothing else to do. Maybe in summer there is more to do here, but I doubt this could rival other beaches I've... more

Booked the Old Ship for a birthday weekend away. Read many reviews and was a little concerned about the noise, the state of the rooms etc. When arrived very nice man in the car park took our car and parked it for our two day stay (costing £15.00 a day though). Went to room which was OK was meant to... more
