Our stay was cut short when the fire alarm went off at 3am and no attempt was made to evacuate the hotel. We had not managed to sleep until then due to the noise from the club guests smoking outside our window. We complained about the heat and noise in our room at the time but the night manager was... more

really enjoyed our stay. we were a group of 7 for a 30th birthday party. the budget sea view room was great, the staff were (mostly) friendly. good selection of breakfast with a late cut-off time. unfortunately i am a light sleeper and seemed to have heavy footed people above me! paid a visit to the funky fish which was... more

I hadn't booked but turned up at the New Madeira on a Friday and got a single room for £40 which I thought was very reasonable as it was a good size with a nice bathroom en suite. The guy on reception was very courteous and helpful. However, I do think the staff should point out that the basement nightclub... more

I stayed here for one night in January whilst on business. I stayed in one of their 5 'boutique' rooms at the front of the hotel. At £180 per night it is quite disconcerting to check into the hotel and see signs everywhere saying £25 pppn. Apparently this is for student type quad rooms. So you feel like you are... more

I've spent a night with my partner on the 2nd of December in this hotel. It was a last minute, non planned thing, and I was pleasantly surprised by the high standards of the hotel. First, I was greeted with the most pleasant and polite receptionist (yes, some of them ARE rude!), who was very helpful and friendly. She managed... more

Paid for an ungraded room which was nice but no air conditioning, no double glazing so super noisy, not only from the road but from the nightclub directly below. Staff were not overly friendly and breakfast was the worst one I've ever had. Not worth the money would not recommend more

We checked in around 730p on a Friday night. When we first checked in, we were given the run down of the hotel by a courteous clerk (one of only two employees that were friendly). We went to the room immediately to drop off our belongings. Upon arrival in the room, we noticed that is was unbelievably warm in the... more

The hotel was OK as were the staff. The facilities were not great but they did have a big TV in the bar area - great for Britains Got Talent. Also a 24 hour bar... apparently. The night manager was very aggressive when I asked for a drink, even after I explained that this is a 24 hour bar and... more

This is a great place to stay for a short break/holiday. i stayed here recently and i found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. It has a very good view of the pier at night time. The breakfast is served up very quickly and the lady that served me breakfast had a good sence of humor too. it... more

Fab Fab Fab Nine of us stayed at this hotel for my 30th birthday. We felt very welcomed whilst waiting for check in discussing the nightlife with the owner. went to the funky fish at 10pm that evening and there was only us in, it wasnt really our scene so we left and went to Charles street which was just... more
