The Ambassdor is an old-fashioned 'English seaside' sort of hotel, with rickety staircases and poky rooms. The staff were generally courteous and the breakfast was very good. Otherwise, though, it's the kind of place you might have stayed at in 1980s if you were short of money. Which would all be fine if they didn't have the cheek to charge... more

Thank goodness we only had to put up with this awful place for only one night. The room was tired and tatty, dreadful old fashioned decor and not even clean, the TV faulty, the windows had not been cleaned we suspect this year and the attitude of the owner when confronted with our comments says it all. "Well that's your... more

I came down to Brighton for the weekend on my own and found it absolutely delightful! Being from the states and currently living in London, i wanted the chance to experience other parts of the lovely England. The Ambassador Hotel on 23 New Steine was a great place to stay. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and the guests... more

On the whole the hotel was a good choice for location and a really excellent breakfast choice, although if you wanted vegan or vegetarian you didn't always get it on the first try!! The hotel is marked as a 4* but we thought it was shabby with the wallpaper in the rooms peeling and lumpy beds. The rooms were clean... more

Me & My Boyfriend Stayed here for the Easter Weekend. When we arrived it was late morning, the man that checked us in was nice and gave us a map of Brighton. They said that the room wouldnt be ready for another 2 or so Hours! but they put our bags in a room while we went for a walk.... more

We turned up in Brighton on new years eve hoping to find accomodation. Found this one straight away. £95 for a double room and breakfast. The room was small but adequate. Comfy bed. Clean bed linin. Good towels. Small toilet and shower, but again, adequate. Very good, tasty breakfast. Locally produced, good quality ingredients. Also, as someone said earlier, a... more

We've stayed in many small hotels around Brighton, but our favorites were full. Booked a room and then read the reviews so was worried! When we arrived in the morning (10am) our room was not ready but they took our bags and offered us a fresh coffee which was very welcome. Came back later (1pm) and went up to our... more

Take more care than I did when booking on-line, for if you have to cancel for any reason you will forfeit the 50% deposit (which in my case was a hefty GBP114.00). The person I dealt with at the hotel - Nick, was extremely unhelpful and it was just a case of 'hard luck, that's what you agreed to', even... more

Pros: Good food at breakfast; friendly waitresses in the dining room; good supply of biscuits and tea and coffee in the room. Cons: everything else. In particular, rude reception staff, terrible decor, broken furniture, tiny cramped 'en-suite' facilities and, worst of all, extremely overpriced. more

HEN PARTY The room we had was on the third floor, the shower was absolutely scalding hot, there was no cold water at all, subsequently it resulted in having to shampoo our hair in the wash hand basin. In fact after the second attempt we gave up trying to shower at all and washed in the basin. The room was... more
