There are plenty of cheap seaside hotels in Brighton which like to cater for the diverse range of people who visit this lively party town. When availability is limited, customers take whatever they can get. One highly unfortunate consequence of this is that grotty places like Fyfield House are kept in business.
I booked two rooms: one for myself, and another for a friend and his flatmate. On the second of our two nights there, the flatmate went out until very late and had to call to ask me to let him back into the hotel as he obviously did not have his key. He then had to knock at the door of his room to wake his roommate.
I do not consider this scenario discourteous to the hotel's management, yet it clearly aroused disapproval and dirty looks were handed out to our party at breakfast. We were not aware that it had even been witnessed.
