The pub is a typical locals pub, everyone seemed to know everyone else. The beer was good and the service friendly. Whilst the hotel needed some attention and our room was a little odd, with the strangest little ensuite shower room / toilet. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ample and cooked to order. We had booked here... More

We booked our one night stay at The Crown Inn to coincide with a friend's wedding. We booked online a few months in advance but decided to call a few days before our visit to make sure we were expected and that there were no problems with our booking. I was told to 'Call back later - I don't know... More

I made a booking in this property for stay at 4th of May 2013 to attend a wedding reception in Lewes. I made my booking via Eviivo 4 weeks in advance. I paid the booking fee of £75.00p in full and I received confirmation from Eviivo. On 3rd of May 2013, I received a very short e-mail message from the... More

After a 3 hr drive we turned up to find that they had cancelled our room without any notice or explanation! I think we had a lucky escape :) Stupidly we did not check Tripadvisor before, however we did find another place to stay through Tourist Information. One word.... Skanky!

The worst hotel we've ever stayed in, chairs in bar all stained, the whole place dirty throughout, duvat covers not even ironed, whole place was cold, how they had the nerve to charge £70 per night is quite unbelievable. Needs to be closed down.

This is the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some dumps! Dirty, non engaging staff, bed linen smelled damp and dirty...food...no thanks...go to Macdonalds! You will be better off sleeping in your car.

Called to say I'd be late, but would be there before midnight. Told me to call when I arrived, which I did at 11.40. No answer on phone or from ringing door bell. Left me standing in the rain with luggage. Friend took me in for the night. Called booking.com to explain what happened and cancelled reservation. Next day email... More

Ahhh the Crown at Lewes where does one start? The olde worlde charm of its accomodation, the helpful friendly staff, the warm glow in the snug (evening wear obligatory) where the dedicated opera lover can engage in friendly debate as to the merits of Pucinni versus Verdi or the stage craft of Dr Jonathan Miller. At just four miles as... More

This place is in serious need of investment. It's got the location and the building, but unless serious money is spent on revamping (and on a decent central heating system) it is under the standard you'd expect from a hotel these days. It also has an atmosphere problem, caused by the smell, some of the staff having an indifferent attitude,... More

Fellow travellers, I seriously recommend you arrange to sleep in a garden shed rather than this dump. Not only did I see the largest cockroach of my life in a room the owners have the nerve to call a bathroom, but also the largest, smelliest unflushed turd imaginable - you could have stuck a flag in and sent it off...
