The Anchor Inn is such a beautiful pub in such a lovely tranquil location next to the river. I went to visit on a warm spring afternoon after an amazing scenic cycle ride from Lewes. It was great to sit out in their amazing garden and I was really looking forward to eating some delicious lunch after my bike ride... More

I can see that this could be a great pub but our visit was a little odd. The young chap in charge was charming but clearly out of his depth and in need of training if he is to be left on his own in future. Poor management I assume as he was clearly capable of learning. Food was okay... More

Have been here many times and just love the place. It is very remote and surrounded by fantastic countryside along the River Ouse with paddle boats to hire on the river. Food and service is second to none.

We had our reception in June 2012 at the beautiful Anchor Inn, Barcombe and didn't regret it at all. From deciding on the venue 16 months before, right up until the clean-up the day after, the manager Simon, Steph, Julia and the team were great. On every visit they were helpful, friendly, flexible, professional and, best of all, fun. We're... More

We just ended up having a quick pint and some fries. We did consider a boating trip but it was really expensive. The beer garden was full of people. Whilst we were inside ordering one of the staff said that there was another bar where people could order from.

A beautiful location by the river, this pub is a lovely day out both in summer and comes into its own in winter, with log fires and general old worlde cosiness. Owners and staff freindly are welcoming. Highly recommend their sunday roast - the nearest we have had to a home cooked one - both on quantity and quality and... More

Returned to The Anchor Inn after a few years for lunch and the boating with two friends. Great atmosphere with a front garden and deck on the river. Good food and really pleasant service. My friends don't know this part of the country and we were really pleasantly surprised. We took a boat out and had a great trip up... More

We stayed at the Anchor inn last night in the chalet, we really enjoyed it although didn't use it to the best of potential as partner wasn't really feeling his best so although we had planned to invite a couple of friends over for a BBQ on the decking area we didn't, we have however booked it for next weekend... Helpful from the outset, good email contact, really busy, but still calm bar staff, food served really quick, plenty young waitresses, absolutely loved my half roast chicken and the vegetables were fab, not just your carrrots, but courgettes in ragu sauce and broccoli. Helpful with Mum's cake for her Birthday too so all in all, well done, had a fab... More

I brought my family back here this weekend after visiting last year to attend a friends wedding. I had arranged to meet friends who hadn't visited the area before and was hoping it would live up to their expectations. We had a great afternoon, food was served promptly in generous portions and was rounded off by a pleasant row down... More
