We were instantly disappointed by the size of our room (a standard double) and the layout: the first thoughts were how to negotiate a long chunky table and chair that were ridiculously close to the foot of the bed. There was a small (open) space for hanging clothes and storing bags. The rooms seem to vary in this hotel and... more

Although it looks a bit pricey, it's actually good value, because it's a DBB rate. The hotel has character, it's clean, comfortable, the staff are very helpful and cheerful too. It's right in the centre of town, but there's no intrusive noise. Did I say that the food was good? Dinner was excellent. Breakfast, somehow, managed to be even better.... more

This hotel is comfortable, with nice large beds (although they were two twins together, but had enough linen so it wasn't that obvious), it was nice to be able to open the windows in the room which didn't have air-con. The bathroom was fairly new, and well appointed, although without a bath. My main tip is to book through the... more

Unusual today a privately owned hotel in a pretty Sussex town and just off the main street. The staff were all friendly, un-hurried and professional at all stages. Seems a little shabby at first, with peeling paint, rugs not carpets and creaking floorboards. This will not affect your stay. We stayed in the main building and had a small room... more

Pelham House is a very charming hotel with beautiful gardens. However the cheaper rooms (£130 a night) were separated from the hotel by the car park. We were on the ground floor, so the door of our room actually opened directly onto the car park. We stayed for a friday and saturday night and were woken at about 6.30am on... more

We'll start with the good - lovely hotel, well located in Lewes with lovely grounds and common areas - downstairs anyway, and a great breakfast (albeit for the early-bird as it finishes at 10am even at weekends!). They've restored the building in a shabby-chic kind of style - quite modern, clean and comfy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful... more

Took my elderly mother for 2 nights whilst attending Glyndebourne. Best hotel I have stayed at in the area. Very helpful before arrival in organising the correct room for my mother. The rooms in the annex (opposite front door of hotel) are fresh, bright and co-ordinated. Booked parking, and staff sorted out the car on return from the opera. Visited... more

We felt truly spoilt after our stay at Pelham house. Our room was delightful, and the gardens and views made it extra special. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant, and were so impressed with the food that we have been back subsequently for a birthday meal. We felt very looked after by all the staff we met, and... more

requested a room with a bath as thought this would ensure we were in the main building, and it worked. Loverly room and huge bathroom with free standing rolltop bath, bathroom bit dated but very nice. paid for the car parking as well and they gave me a days extra free parking as well. Grounds are lovey and very relaxing... more

We stayed at Pelham House for two nights, ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there, and also chose to book our wedding reception with them, which took place over the weekend that we stayed. The staff at Pelham have shown interest, dedication and thoughtfulness throughout the past 6 months of us planning our wedding with them, and on our wedding day... more
