Although famous for its past, the Hope Anchor is known locally for its stunning views across the Quayside, Romney Marshes, Camber Castle and beyond to the sea. Most of our rooms enjoy these panoramic views and to be honest they need to be seen to be believed. Although beautiful all year round the sunsets in summer bring locals young and old to enjoy alfresco dining accompanied of course with a glass or two of wine! more » « less

Stayed here in November in the cottage, staff were very friendly and helpful. Was a first time visit to Rye and really enjoyed exploring it. The view from the top of St Mary's church was amazing and is a must. Will definately visit Rye again and stay at The Hope Anchor. more

I picked this hotel for a two night 'get-away-from-it-all' break on the strength of reviews on this site and I certainly was not disappointed. Terrific location tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets and perched on the hill overlooking the quay facing due west - ideal for watching the sunset over Winchelsea. Very welcoming and attentive... more

Linda & Mick Salt, Sittingbourne,Kent We chose this hotel for a short break, it was certainly the right choice, very clean, very friendly and the food was extremely good. We had the Harbour View room which was surpisingly spacious, especially the bathroom! and it was very comfortable, cosy and warm. We will definitely being going back again. more

We recently stayed here for our second visit. We love this hotel. The first time we stayed in the Captain's Cabin, which was excellent, huge room and bed and lovely en-suite bathroom. All the facilities - bathrobes etc. Second time we snapped up a special offer and expected really to be allocated one of their standard/small rooms as we got... more

In spite of booking very late, we took the last and smallest room in the hotel. A totally acceptable room although bathroom tiling was a bit poor. Service throughout the hotel was very good, being both efficient & friendly. Location on the top of the hill , just a hundred yards down a cobbled road from the church, and a... more

The Hope Anchor - lovely hotel. Helpful and attentive staff, nice room, good view of river. Breakfast was great ! Rye is a beautiful old town, cobbles, old church (go up the tower for the view!). Suggest Heyden's Tea Rooms for lunch or a quick bite to eat and the bar at the Mermaid Inn for an (over priced) drink.... more

Rye itself is incredibly beautiful, and this property couldn't be in a better location. We stayed in the Fisherman's cottage and what a lovely place. We had an upstairs bedroom and bath and a downstairs living area all private from the main building. Nice for privacy. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. I would highly recommend this... more

We stayed in the adjoining cottage to the actual hotel which was lovely. We have a young baby and it was perfect - a nice, clean, well furnished bedroom upstairs with bathroom, and a good sized lounge with dining table and small kitchen downstairs. We only stayed one night but the staff were so friendly and helpful during our time... more

We had to stay in hotel as my daugher had a photoshoot. We chose this hotel based on reviews on here and were pleasantly suprised. The location was good we, easily walked to the centre of town, down the cobbled streets. Reception was very quick Our room was a double bedded room which had a view over a strand quay.... more

We recently stayed at the Hotel having read other tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The receptionist is extremely friendly, which immediately set a nice tone for the stay. She personally took us to our room, the Junior Suite which was lovely, with step down to a cosy bedroom. Yes the furniture is a little dated but it adds to... more
