We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at Jeake's house for four nights. It's location is right in the heart of Rye on the famous Mermaid Street with its cobbled street which takes a few days to master to walk on! The hotel is quiet and the hosts are very professional and welcoming to the guests. You can... More

My wife and I stayed here while visiting Rye. From the cobblestone street to the beautiful décor in the house and rooms this was a fantastic place to stay. The staff was friendly and the place just feels comfortable whether in your room or in one of the common areas. If you are looking for romantic England, this is it.

From the moment we arrived to the time we checked out, we were extremely well looked after by hosts Jenny and Richard and their staff. They certainly do care about making sure your stay is perfect. The hotel's website which incorporates a short video is true to life and we found it very useful in helping us choose Jeake's House... More

More than forty years separate my last visit to Rye and this week’s. I was suitably impressed with the place all those years ago and I have to admit, I wasn’t disappointed this time either. It is a beautiful market town which has known how to preserve its standing. Little did I suspect all those years ago that one day... More

An authentic and valuable small hotel with really great hosts and faultless accommodation. We just stayed here for three nights and were impressed with the seemingly effortless comfort provided by this really lovely old historic building right in the heart of town - and what a town it is! Rye has managed to preserve its identity and has not sold... More

We stayed at Jeakes house for just one night for my partners birthday after looking at the reviews here on TA for a lovely quirky place to stay. Have to say, certainly not disappointed as it was a beautiful place, like stepping back in time. We stayed in the Malcolm Lowry suite & loved everything about it, the place was... More

A fantastic period building located on a quiet cobbled street. The majority the street was also of the same period appearance, so you feel like you could step back in time. The interior of building is beautifully decorated, from the dining room with sweeping staircase and double height ceilings, to the incredibly comfortable and clean bedrooms. I'd not normally take... We stayed in Jeakes house for a short break just after Easter. For anybody who loves Rye, this is the place to stay. Everything about it is first class! What can we say that hasn't been said before! Excellent all round. This was our second stay in a different room. We hope to work our way though all the rooms!... More

We figured that if we really wanted to get the feel of Rye we should stay in the heart of it, so we chose Jeakes House half way up Mermaid Street. We didn't regret it! The house is fascinating and the rooms thoughtfully and appropriately furbished. The breakfasts are delicious and Jenny and Richard are charming hosts.

Stayed in Jeakes House for a short break in March. We thought it was a fantasic, quirky hotel with friendly staff and great breakfasts. The dining room (in the old chapel I think) was a great place to eat cooked-to-order breakfast. I was disappointed not to catch sight of the cats (since they are advertised on the web-site!) but with... More
