This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed at Jeake's. Both times we have been impressed by the quality of the service and the generally welcoming ambience. A guaranteed parking spot, albeit away from the hotel is a bonus. The setting, on a cobbled street in the old town is ideal. Jenny and Richard know how... More

Jenny & Richard welcome you when you first arrive, and it is personal all the way; one of them is always there to take breakfast orders and to have a morning chat. The room (we stayed in one of the named suites) was just beautiful and housekeeping was exceptional. The location is so perfect for an old town like Rye,... More

Unfortunately my partner and I have been denied the opportunity to stay at this hotel by very hostile bookoing condtions that other travellers should be aware of. The owners charge a £25 deposit when reservations are made, but they are extrememly inflexible if the trip has to be postponed. My partner and then myself were unable to travel due to... More

So sorry you felt we were inflexible and hostile. Following your cancellation the first time, I held your deposit over so that you could re-book. I did this again when you cancelled for the second time. When you cancelled for the third time it was not possible to re-book you. I might also add that I was unable to re-let... More

Lovely building, fantastic room, very comfy bed, friendly owners and staff and breakfast was great. Location in Rye is perfect. We came by train (5-6 minutes stroll from the station to Mermaid Street) so didnt have to pay the extra for parking the car or navigate the tight roads of Rye, this might be a issue for some, but a... Very pleasant small hotel B&B, very friendly helpful staff, everything worked, free Wi-Fi, great breakfasts, not just the standard “Full English” but nice range to choose from. It’s up a cobbled street, so once you've checked in you’ll have to park a few mins away. Being an old building its rooms are compact though well equipped. But you’re in the... More

We stayed at Jeakes House for Christmas 2011 and I cannot think of a better hotel experience. The service is discreet, charming and classy and the overall stay was exceptional. It was like going back to simpler times. We were there for Christmas, when Rye is already magical, but all four of us (we stayed in the 4-poster bed suites,... More

We stayed here to celebrate our marriage on 22nd December on a very rainy day. We stayed in the Lowry suite. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated and we spent a pleasant day of rest inside! As it was a special occasion we booked a table at Ambrette and again received excellent service. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked... More

Jeakes House, Rye, East Sussex October, 2011 Jeakes House is located on Mermaid Street, almost at the wharf area. Mermaid is a steep street, and narrow. Park in front and unload luggage. Then it’s a very short drive to the parking area, 3pounds per day, and less than a 5 minute walk back. This is a beautifully appointed B&B. It... More

We stayed 2 nights for our 1st anniversary weekend. Our room was 'Elizabeth Fry' and was beautifully decorated with olde English charm in every corner. It's like stepping back in time! The chamber music at breakfast time added to the overall delight of the place and we spent each evening playing scrabble and having drinks and crisps/nuts from the honesty... More
