We stayed 2 nights midweek. Very well situated on Mermaid Street, which is amongst the most picturesque in Rye, and central to everything. We had the Conrad Aiken suite - top floor, wonderful views, very comfortable large 4 poster in spacious main room plus side room with single bed. Nice period decor and antique furniture, floors sloped a bit and... more

We ended up at Jeake's House as a last minute stop for one night, and wish we had planned to stay longer! It is on the most historic street of Rye, so very well located. Parking is around the corner. The room we stayed in (John Burkes) was great - the view was wonderful, the bathroom was very nice. The... more

We have just returned from a three-night stay at Jeake's. A very agreeable place - full of character and comfort and in a perfect location on quiet Mermaid St in the centre of Rye. The owners and staff are excellent: attentive and discreet, with a good deal of local knowledge that they are happy to share. Good, thoughtful breakfasts, comfortable... more

This was our third stay at Jeakes, we love it so much it is often our reason for visiting Rye. Wonderful place and the fact they allow dogs is testament to how accommodating and friendly they are. more

We could not find fault with Jeakes House. The welcome was friendly, the room was perfect, better than some hotels. Everything was clean and there was no background music. Breakfast was the best ever - calm and relaxed atmoshere, home made marmalade and best sausages ever served - pity they only served one! Perfect location and place to stay for... more

My wife and I couldn't fault this place even after high expectations from reading so many good reviews. We travel quite alot and have stayed in many hotels and this place really is something different and very special. We love boutique hotels but this is a refreshing change and immediately welcoming and relaxing. Very charming, friendly and discreet hosts. Honesty... more

What a lovely place to escape the winter blues! Pure luxury with the four poster bed, roll top bath and the 'honesty' bar. Me and my partner could not have been greeted by more welcoming hosts who were friendly and helpful, their recomendations for dinner were spot on. Even the breakfast was fantastic, I was able to have my favourite:... more

My wife and i stayed in February for 2 nights in the nalcolm lowry room. Fantastic 4 poster bed and roll top bath. Very welcoming staff and excellent breakfast. Couple of idiosyncracies though- dogs welcome in the building and at breakfast where we had dogs growling at each other one morning- not relaxing. Secondly i wanted to iron a shirt... more

We were originally booked at another B&B who managed todouble book us (I am not naming them becuase they were very apologetic and got us a room at Jeake's House). We really liked Jeake's House - great location within walking distances of lovely restaurants, very pleasant atmosphere and fabulous breakfasts (you don't have to have the devilled kidneys but my... more

This is a wonderful old building in a fascinating town. The rooms are beautifully decorated, well-provisioned and comfortable. The breakfast menu is great and the dining room is lovely. There is a lounge and a newspaper/games room with an honesty bar. The hosts are truly charming and attentive. My biggest regret is that I could only stay for two nights!... more
