The windmill was an excellent chioce for visitors without a car. Within walking distance of the train and bus stations, restaurants, and the entire town of Rye, it offered friendly service, an excellent breakfast ( especially for me-a vegetarian!), clean rooms (although a bit small, but with a large bathroom!), and a generally welcoming atmosphere. We chose the Windmill because of it's close proximity to the rail station and the town of Rye. It was perfect. We walked to and from the rail and bus everyday. It was literally minutes. We booked for a weekend away & Rye is a fabulous place. However, I was disappointed having paid £75 a night for a superior room. On the good side: the food was excellent being tasty and well cooked. We stayed in a superior room, fab bathroom with a HUGE shower and enormous bed. All the other guests were quiet and well-behaved which was a bonus! The owner recommended Simply Italian which was delicious and, for a 3 course meal, a bargain at £30. Breakfast at the hotel was fabulous. We couldn't fault this hotel,an absolute gem.
