Avoid like the plague I must admit, I’ve stayed in some dodgy places but NEVER one like this. The place stank of cigarette smoke, their was a dirty looking old man sitting in the bar who I at first thought had mistakenly wandered in of the street but was latter informed was in fact the owner. The Polish girl behind... more

My friend and I visited the hotel on 9th Sept 2009 as we were staying in a local B & B. Although the menu was reasonably interesting the food was not ... no 'real' chips and too much green salad - obviously to fill the plate. The 'machined' coffee was coloured water and tasteless, and even the second replacement cup... more

We stayed for 2 nights with our teenage daughter and small dog. The staff were helpful. In fact we left a pair of trainers and the dog blanket behind. The Housekeeper rang us and posted it recorded delivery free of charge. One or two of the other comments seem spiteful, so you wonder if genuine. more

We were shown to room number 10 which, on opening the door, smelt strongly of damp. The small shower room had standing water on the floor, peeling wall paper and black mould covering most of the ceiling. The basin was in the bedroom rather than in the bathroom as is usual with an en suite. After refusing this room the... more

Avoid like the plague. We booked in a hurry without time to check it out on Trip Advisor. What a dreadful place. It may have been quaint about 30 years ago but is now well past it's sell by date. It needs a complete refurbishment. The room was tatty with mismatched furniture and decrations. The paint was dirty. The external... more

We wish we had read the review from iris in Devon before we checked in, she was absolutely spot on. We were shown to our room but after a considered 5 minutes we decided not stay. We had booked for two nights and therefore lost our deposit, but like Iris we found the Flackley Ash Hotel and payed a good... more

We were worried by some reviews, but after staying at playden Oast this weekend, I was quite happy! So they've got a parrot in the dining room! We liked it! It was funny! If When you stay at the place you see that the owners and staff maybe quirky, but also really friendly, helpful, characterful and interesting... This quirky B&B... more

This is exactly what we did! We were staying in the area to celebrate my friend's 'special birthday'. We were met by a man in a scruffy, dirty top who proceeded to show us to our 'room'. I think I can safely say it was the worst room I have ever looked at in a hotel. I have stayed in... more

This Inn is unique! Really enjoyed our stay here and loved all the original features and surrounds. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. There is a beautiful large parrot that lives (in a cage) in the Lounge bar and it's wonderful to sit in the 3 round oasts/kiln for a drink and then into the intimate round restaurant for... more
