Had a very pleasant lunch with a discerning friend in this ancient pub. Pub owner could smile a bit more but the waitress was delightful. Food and drinks arrived in good time. My rigatoni with bacon and tomato was delicious and the antipasti platter, delicious and copious. Good value and good atmosphere. Lots of regulars I noticed.

My husband and I stayed at The Sun this last weekend. It is a lovely pub in a pretty village. We arrived Friday evening and the bar was buzzing with locals and visitors. Henry flashed a welcoming smile at us before filling a flask with fresh milk and showing us to our room, Phaeton, above the bar. Lovely room with... More

We've been eating at The Sun Inn about two or three times a year for the last 7 years or so. We've always considered it to be a lovely pub with good beer and excellent service BUT the food has been a bit hit and miss. The quality has usually been very good but we've occasionally left feeling that we've... More

Booked for a one night stay including dinner at the start of the Easter Weekend. Lovely warm welcome after a bit of traveling and the open fires were a dream after a very cold day on the road. Our room was just lovely (Dovecot) with a great bathroom and huge walk in shower. We had a couple of drinks in... More

We had a friends reunion last weekend, three couples took over 3 rooms--each room is mildly quirky, but so comfortable. Lovely linen, super bathrooms -- can say more, oh yes!! The mainstay of this hotel are the staff, in the three days we stayed here, the staff made sure that everything we needed was available and all was provided with... More

We've wanted to visit the Sun for ages and finally had the opportunity on a whim. We pitched up on a very busy sunday lunch and asked about a room. They were very accommodating considering how busy they were and we were offered their Sleepover deal in the Ward room - beautiful, wonky room with a comfy bed, luxurious linen... More

Stayed here for two nights on their winter deal. Bikes were included so we used these on the first afternoon. The staff gave advice and a map. Our room was called "Elsa" and had an undulating floor and a four poster bed. The whole Inn is full of character. The bedding and pillows were incredibly soft and we slept well.... More

Our second visit and it didn't disappoint. Was in between Xmas and New Year this year but was nice and busy with a great selection of ales and the food in the restaurant was top class. We stayed in 'Elsa' this time and I can thoroughly recommend it, though watch out for the ghost!

Spectacularly good food, beautiful rooms, warm understated service and all set in a picture-postcard village surrounded by wonderful walks. Faultless! It's hard to believe it's just an hour from London, considering what an escape it feels.

My husband and I decided to make a return visit to the Sun Inn as a pick me up after Christmas. We had had a really good experience the first time which was about 4 years ago and were afraid a second visit might not live up to the first. We need not have worried. From the moment we were... More
