This inn is really nice and friendly. We didn't stay a night, but went for lunch on a Saturday. It was extremely busy, we got the last table. Menu is interesting - I ordered venison stew which was really good, the only criticism I'd have is portion sizes are slightly small - but the quality's really good and they source... More

Had dinner on Saturday night with friends. I found the service a little lacking but not unusual for here in recent months. Menu was uninspiring and struggled with my main of rump steak. Had to send back to have cooked further as was raw as had requested medium done not rare. Came back from kitchen cooked but covered in oily... More

Have stayed here once before and had a really good stay which was value for money. Have just come back from a 1 night dbb stay. Stayed in their new room -BUTCHERS. Very pleasant, but no bedside tables which had not arrived for opening, and a cold bathroom as it only had a heated towel rail. Also had to ask... More

We have viewed the impressive-looking room but not stayed as we live locally. The food here is simply exceptional. And though the menu may change, the quality does not. The Sun offers fresh ingredients inventively cooked and reasonably priced. service is very good and there is no frustrating service charge to detract from the experience. wonderful place to eat! Just returned from our third stay at the Sun Inn, and as always, superb rooms, food, wine and staff. A perfect short break, beautiful village location and made to feel both spoilt and special. I only ever read reviews on here and never add them, but, to be fair the Sun Inn truly deserves praise hence my first ever entry!... More

What a fabulous country inn - and only one hour from London. We wanted to visit Constable country and the Sun Inn was the perfect spot. A half hour's walk takes you to Flatford Mill and the sites of many of Constable's paintings. Dedham itself is a very pretty village and served us well as a base to explore the... More

My husband and I have just returned from a two night break which was part of their Autumn offer. Our stay included two nights accommodations, afternoon tea, 3 course dinner, 5 course taster menu with matching wine and breakfast - all for a very reasonable price of £350. We were not disappointed. The staff, all of whom are quite young,... More

Had a superb stay here during an unseasonably warm March weekend. Lovely room, professional staff, fanastic dinner and breakfast. It is a great inn and a great location. If you like pubs, great food and beautiful walks in the country, I'd be very surprised if you were disappointed! More

We only went for lunch but it was lovely. Without trip advisor and Alastair Sawday we would have totally passed this by it looks a bit scruffy both inside and out and there is no way without reading reviews that we would have stopped here. The food was fantastic and the place had a really nice feel about it.However it... More

I booked the Sun Inn at Dedham instead of my usual Travel Inn at Ipswich. I arrived late on a cold autumn Sunday evening. I was warmly welcomed at the bar and expained I was later than expected as my journey had been difficult. I noticed that last orders for dinner was 9.30pm and I was 5 minutes past this... More
