We have a large family with lots of pets, this topsy turvy olde worlde cottage was PERFECT, it was huge (my child described it as the best place 'ever' to play hide and seek) and had such character, no the furniture doesn't match and has very outdated bathrooms, but if you want immaculate decor go to the ritz, the function... Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted you and your family were able to make the most of the Farmhouse cottages for your parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and that your child appreciated the magic of it all! We shall look forward to welcoming you back. More

27 members of our extended family, with representatives aged from two to almost eighty years old, have enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant stay at the four conjoined Whitminster House Cottages. We found all the kitchen equipment we needed, including a range of barbecue tools, colanders, knives, pans and a vast supply of crockery. We were warm and comfortable and tended to... More

I wrote a review at the time but suspect it was deleted as the owner didn't care for the feedback & challenged the period during which we stayed, I don't think this matters as subsequent reviews have pointed out the obvious shortcomings so I suspect the place hasn't had the makeover it so desperately needs .... in more than 20... We want all our guests to be as delighted with their stay at Whitminster House Cottages as most are, so are very disappointed when a few don't feel they have had the enjoyable experience it is our intention to provide. Ranging in age from the Elizabethan Farmhouse to the Victorian Lodge, the cottages are appreciated for their character and charm,... More

Before writing off Whitminster House because of all this negative feedback, ask yourself what you want from the event you are organising. If you are looking for priceless chandeliers, chaise longs and other opulent details then you may have the wrong place. However for our Garden Party style wedding we couldn't have found anywhere more ideal. Whitminster House is offered... More

Stayed here for a long weekend with my young family and found the cottage to be clean, spacious and well equipped. While I admit it is a little dated, for most of us this added to the charm (although my 12 year old daughter wouldn't agree). The location is quiet with views of open farmland to front and the Saul... More

We were..... and consequently were lulled by the professional website and didn't check here! To celebrate our mate's big birthday we booked a narrowboat from Slimbridge and planned to stay at the Tudor Arms. Sadly it was fully booked and the hunt was on for somewhere local that meant we could still access the boat and have a good time..................... More

Stayed in Church Cottage for a long weekend. Luckily the weather was good and the company excellent. This cottage is furnished with Oxfam-rejected furniture and linen. One of the doubles had sheets that should have been used to refurb the place is was so scratchy. The home-made conservatory was a wonder, as was the greying and stained outdoor furniture. The... In November 2009 I booked out all of the properties at Whitminster House and took over 30 people for an out of office business meeting. My colleagues are used to staying in 4 star hotels for meetings like these and so had to get their head round to this different type of venue. The property does have some old furniture... More

Only managed to stay three nights out of seven. Steptoesque interior which smelt damp and musty. Very dangerous staircase with no supporting handrail on one side. Nasty bathroom, home to enormous spiders and in desperate need of updating with a smelly, unhygenic carpet. I put my hand in a kitchen cupboard to get a plate and got handful of cobwebs!... More

Whitminster House Cottages is one of those gems you find every now and again. The first time I stayed there I went for a romantic weekend with my girlfriend and stayed in one of the flats in the main house. We had such a great time that we then arranged to stay in Walk Farmhouse with a group of friends... More
