It has been 2 years since our last stay at the Bell Inn. We first chose the Bell because we wanted to stay in an authentic old English inn. We were not disappointed. Please understand what you are getting - this is not a Marriott (my gold standard for business travel). This is a very old inn with lots of... more

We spent 5 days here in the olde Bell Inn. Manager and Staff, friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner all very tasty. A huge room in house behind the Inn, very quiet only the squeaking of our mattress was to hear. Close to Station and buses start outside so perfect for 'carless' travellers. more

We stayed there based on reviews from this site...we paid $200 USD. Dark, musty, freezing, dingy, gross, are among a few of the words I can use...I killed 3 spiders directly above my head near the headboard before dinner! The pub had pretty decent food, but there were tons of stinky dogs all over the place...the lady who served us... more

What a pleasure it was to stay at the Bell Inn. This 17th century inn has a great connection to Tolkein's LOTRs trilogy (the Prancing Pony in Bree was based on the Bell Inn, the town of Bree has many similarities to the town of Moreton in Marsh, including a Curfew Tower). While the Innkeeper may not be forgetful like... more

Our initial impression of the inn was "Uh-oh", but in fact this was completely incorrect. Our rooms were clean, if a little dark but with loads of character. Also, surprisingly quiet! The breakfast was very substantial if a little early for some people. We will definitely go back as I think it was superb value for money. more

Staying in the luxury suite we expected something a little bit special but were wholly impressed with the massive room we were given. It was tastefully decorated, full of character (exposed beams etc.) and quiet. The bed was large and comfortable and the breakfast generous and filling. The only down side was that the bathroom could be slightly cleaner, but... more

My husband and I spent our 10-day honeymoon at The Bell Inn and we had a wonderful experience. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, food delicious and plentiful, and our room large and comfortable (and, yes, clean!). We were very touched to receive a huge and lovely bouquet of flowers with wedding congratulations from the Inn on our first day.... more

My wife and myself have just returned from our wirlwind trip of the Cotswolds. While in Moreton in Marsh we stayed at The Bell Inn on the high street. Where can I start. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel right at home. The staff were friendly and helpful and were only to happy to help... more

I booked our family into a room here last summer based on a recommendation from Frommers. A partial list of problems -- noisy, dirty linens, telephone in room didn't work, door didn't lock/unlock properly. When I went down to ask for help with the key, the response was: "You Americans can't do anything." Nice. We checked out and spent the... more

We booked a room at the Bell on the basis of the description and photographs on the website, which looked and sounded very good. When we arrived the room was cold, damp, sparsely furnished, not properly serviced and very poor. The manageress was too busy to speak to us so we got our deposit back from an assistant and left.... more
