Now I realise that these kind of websites more often than not means they tend to give you their less popular rooms, but our room was wonderfully charismatic. Stayed here as a friend was getting married in Tetbury. Cant wait to visit again. Such a lovely Hotel and amazing food, never tasted food as nice before. Also cream teas in the garden were very tasty. Would definately recommend this Hotel. more

Beautiful hotel and gardens, great food and reasonably priced. We had a lovely, spacious room and bathroom (Deco). Only criticism was there wasn't enough staff so there was rarely anyone on reception - but we did always manage to find someone close by ready to help. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again. more

We had our wedding at the Close Hotel in August 2006. It actually changed hands after we had booked but the new management Colin and Val were absolutely wonderful and looked after everyone extremely well, they really added to the success of the day. I had booked the Close for a family trip and was then worried by some of the reviews on this site. I needn't have worried. The staff were fantastic, and very helpful when we had a minor medical emergency with an 80 year old. We stayed one night in room 205 (Doves). Everything was absolutely lovely- beautiful four poster bedroom and spacious, spotless bathroom, large windows with views over the garden, and delicious breakfast. Perfect for a romantic break! more

We are still in shock...an outstanding hotel in England at such a reasonable price....all the Eastern bloc staff were absolutely charming, focussed and professional. The food was exceptional...as for the room ...it was a huge panelled room with a four poster, another roomsize en-suite with a wet room type shower and a freestanding bath big enough for the largest American... more

Booked through ActiveHotels at much lower price than quoted in these reviews. Lovely appearance on arrival at car park and gardens. Building full of character and warmth. Young man at reception was rather difficult to understand, with rather a quick, laid-back drawl, but pleasant enough. Lovely room, large and very clean. Excellent, hot, freshly-cooked breakfast, served by very pleasant waitresses.... more
