Fantastic location right on the water, located right beside two pubs and easy walking distance to the main sight seeing attractions. Overall, the B&B is average. The cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms was questionable and the food was average at best. The bed was worn out and uncomfortable. Go for the location, not a traditional B&B atmosphere. more

We stayed in the top room of the Sailmakers Loft. From the bedroom you could see the ferries pass by the window, in the bathroom you could sit on the toilet and look at the port. Excellent Location Nice views, not a "blanket" ocean view. There is a building directly in front, but to the right, there are still nice views and can see boats come and go easily. Easy going host. The Sailmaker's Loft is exactly what is says on the website namely a small family run Bed & Breakfast situated in the heart of the Old Portsmouth. We had a short break in Portsmouth and stayed at the Sailmakers Loft. We were in the top room which has a balcony and spectacular views at the front towards Gosport, the Isle of Wight and ferries as they go past. What a bargain. I cannot vouch for the other rooms, but the top floor balcony room was splendid. Take a couple of bottles of wine and sit up there and watch the ferries and people going by.
