It was our first time in Southampton, and the staff at The hotel couldnt of been more helpful. The room was a good size, with a kingsize bed and a balcony overlooking the park. The breakfast was good, however as it is a 'help yourself' it lacked the freshly cooked look. The swimming pool was refreshing, perfect for relaxing after... more

The room was clean and comfortable although it did need upgrading but as there was a yappy dog in the room next door , we asked for a change of room - we were then put in a really wonderful room, which had obviously been modernised . The beds were very comfortable and the large new bathroom had a huge... more

Dreadful room faded and peeling 80's wallpaper & thin cheap carpet. This would have been bearable for one night had we not paid nearly £80 for the privilidge. The trip down to breakfast that morning in the lift had to be shared with some old mattresses that the hotel seemed to be disposing of....charming!!!!!! We won't be back! more

Before I arrived at the hotel my antenna sensed problems: I telephoned through my booking and pre-paid, requesting a front-facing room (overlooking the park). I asked for confirmation of my booking to be sent via e-mail. It did not arrive. I had to chase it! Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed. I was very early, my room was ready and... more

This hotel is very dated and run-down. The room was small and pokey. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke, the bed was too soft, the pillows were lumpy, and the furniture looked as if had been there for centuries! On the upside, the bathroom was vast with a large shower cubicle and a hot, powerful shower. However there was no... more

Please see pictures below. The exterior of the hotel looks like a tenament block and has black running down the front of the building. The back of the building where my room looked out onto there are rotten wooden extraction vents and rubbish and the building looks delapidated. When people walk above your room or past your door the room... more

I would highly recommend the Southampton Park for anyone needing to be in the centre of Southampton, as all the other city centre hotels here are rather avoidable and more expensive and don't have the excellent leisure facilities that this hotel has to offer. I was staying there to attend a rock concert at the Southampton Guildhall, which is just... more

Not a great hotel, and certainly didn't match the impression given by the hotel website. The reception and rooms are dated, with an ironing board and iron left in the corridor for guests to use. I stayed on business, and one look at the restaurant and menu persuaded me to find a decent pub for my evening meal. more

......will I stay at this hotel. To give them some credit, the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. However, you tend to pay to stay in a hotel to sleep and not to feel like you've got a disco going on next to your bed. We were on the second floor and the music was sooo loud that you could... more
