Great location, particularly good for visiting son at Southampton Uni as it's only 7-8 minutes away. We got a good price midweek through Bookings.com - £89 per night B&B. It was the same price as a the Highfield next to the uni but far better. Nice grand entrance to the estate and appeared to be pleasant gardens but we didn't... more

First Impressions do count!. However they do not make up for some pretty basic failings. Great approach to the hotel, perfectly fine check in. Directions to the room were pretty poor but that could just be down to the individual young man. Very disappointed in the room. A travel lodge would have been better apart from the better soap etc... more

This is a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient. When we arrived there was a notice that told us there were 2 private parties with bands playing - there was little extra noise. The food in the dining was good - freshly made bread was offered with starter. Not cheap to eat in restaurant but there is room... more

Went for afternoon tea which was a very poor experience. Tea tasted unpleasant and the tea pot was stained. Biscuits were not fresh. Sad as the drive to to the hotel was lovely but the ambience inside didn't hit the mark. more

Having stayed on a late rooms special ( 80 quid B&B for 2), just prior to the August bank holiday we found the hotel to be friendly and fine for an overnight stay. The room was very dated, very very hot but clean, the bed was small and very soft. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was expensive £90... more

I regularly stay in hotels at this price but never with such bad facilities. The room lacked ventilation and basic hotel facilities (poor quality towels and soaps, no mini bar, no wifi in the room) a low quality buffet breakfast heated under lights. The hotel would have been value for money at less than £100 for the night. more

We went to a friends wedding reception here and decided to make a night of it and stay on the night. For something sounding as grand as Chilworth Manor what you imagine is not what you get,The outside looks impresive and grand but inside the bedrooms would not look out of place at a service station motel and you seemed... more

Stayed for the weekend in this wonderful Manor house. Food was excellent and the staff very accommodating but due to there being functions on there was not sufficient seating in the lounge.Yet no seating at all is provided around the gallery area on the 1st floor. This seems such a shame as it would be the perfect place to sit... more

Well it all depends on your point of view.....I stay here twice a year when I work in Southampton (easy access but in the country). The grounds are lovely (I don't recognise the wild and unkempt bit in the previous reviews!!). In Spring the rhodendrons are great. Now, it is a hotel that survives on the business trade, so you... more

Chilworth Manor is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It has a warm welcoming atmosphere, good food, friendly staff and splendid well appointed rooms, I enjoyed views from my room of well tended gardens. There was a wedding taking place while I was there - you could only tell because people were wearing buttonholes! I wonder... more
