We booked two rooms at the foresters, 3 weeks previously. However 36 hours before we were due to stay at the hotel, we were called to say they were unable to accomodate both rooms as a pipe had burst, a fault which they had known about 5 days previously!!! However, rather than trying to accomodate the four of us for their [mess] up, they offered us one room there and one in ANOTHER pub somewhere else in Winchester! That was the only option they offered! Great customer service ahh? They failed to call us back a couple of occasions and were very unhelpful. The owner who came across as "wild boy", was pretty useless, despite telling me he was a reasonable man - promising us a free bottle of sparkling wine - if we paid for dinner there! Some good will gesture! Ha - what a joke! Terrible customer service and would certainly NOT RECOMMEND the Foresters to anyone, even if you were desperate! ALSO VERY SMOKEY!
