I had originally booked into a hotel near Hereford Station for 1 night before a business meeting. Although I had booked only the day before it seemed my reservation was lost by the time I arrived and as there was no room left. By sheer luck the number for Norfolk House was one of a list that the hotel keeps for such emergencies and a room at this B&B had been vacated a day early.
When I arrived I was offered a tea or a coffee; my habit of drinking decaffeinated tea in the evening was accommodated and I was also offered a plate of biscuits. This appeared to be usual practice here as a fellow late arrival was offered the same treatment.
The house is Georgian, 3 storeys with 5 bedrooms. My bedroom (no.4) was on the third floor and was, I was later told, the smallest although I thought it was ample space.
