Just wonderful rooms, very clean and very comfortable. Brilliant decor, more like a boutique hotel than a B&B, plus lovely products in the bathroom. Staff helped at every turn, were friendly, informative and welcoming. Plus, when my husband mentioned we were there for my birthday, they gave me a card and chocolates. Breakfast is delicious, excellent veggie options. Really appreciated... more

this small hotel is well positioned to explore canterbury, The staff could not have been more helpfull, my fiance had forgotton her makeup removal wipes, and a member of staff gave her some of hers, nothing was too much trouble, the room was a delight, the spa bath great fun, the breakfast tasty and leisurely. all in all really enjoyable... more

I stayed one night at this lovely B&B when my friend and I were going to a conference at the University. We loved the olde worlde charm of the place and the warmth of the welcome from the staff. Our room was spotless and spacious with really comfortable beds. We also liked the home from home touches like the honesty... more

My partner and I booked into The House of Agnes on a trip back to Canterbury, having not visited the city for a number of years. The House of Agnes was a real find... great value, with really personal, attentive and friendly service. We stayed in the Mumbai room, which although small, was perfectly formed and really cosy. A sneaky... more

We stayed for a long weekend at House of Agnes. The hotel is beautifully warm and welcoming. It is within a stones throw of Canterbury Cathedral and many lovely restaurants. The breakfasts are lovely, plenty of choice and are taken in the conservatory. If we return to Canterbury would definately stay at House of Agnes again. more

We were impressed with this place from the start. Right in the centre of town, a very warm place (both in temperature and staff!) and the building was beautifully decorated. We stayed in Venice room which was huge and comfortable. The lovely bath was actually in the bedroom which I've never seen before but was brilliant for relaxing in but... more

We stayed in the Paris Room and found the experience excellent, we had a really good nights sleep and the bathroom facilities were up to the most modern standards. The building itself is a treat to stay in with so much history all around you. The staff were so friendly and attentive, the breakfast was excellent and there was free... more

We stayed here over the weekend with some friends. We stayed in the Shanghai room and our friends were in the Paris room, both rooms are located on the 2nd floor at the front of the building. Both rooms were lovely Shanghai - Its a small but adequate room with a new shower and toilet in a small room and... more

A lovely hotel very close to the centre nice breakfast very friendly staff but heres the bad bit- We stayed in the Shanghi room which was on the top floor, a very small double facing the street, tiny shower room with basin outside in the room. There is a railway crossing just outside the hotel and all night we were kept... more

Management response from
Sandie de Rougemont, owner/manager

I am aware that some guests are not used to any noise at night. However, we are located close to the centre of Canterbury and thus some noise is inevitable. I provide earplugs for the sensitive sleepers but most guests find they do not need them. Our 14thC heritage status prevents us from installing modern windows but we are embarking...

Lovely place. Full of character, loved the Dickens connection. Shame that the two front rooms which are panelled and very old aren't used more- both function rooms. The bar and breakfast room at the back are lovely, but I think a newer addition. We had the Venice room- beautifully themed and decorated, very comfortable bed, a DVD player (great for... more
