We had the misfortune to stay at Greyfriars House Hotel on Friday 17th July. The carpet in the bathroom was literally WET and smelt vile. We were still awake at 3am as every youth in Canterbury walked past this Hotel literally shouting and screaming.....terrible language too. Then at 4am the bottles were thrown into the bottle bank from the hotel... more

I can find little good to say about this B&B other than it was centrally located. Our bedroom was small. The bed was extremely uncomfortable dipping towards the middle and there was only one bedside table. There were no extra touches (tissues, hairdryer etc). There was a horrible cloying odour of stale cooking (I hope that was what it was).... more

great location but let down with accomodation, very, very basic guest house sandwiched between two derelict buildings opposite a hotel and very rowdy pub which only came alive in the early hours so ear plugs a must, breakfast was great and plentiful and the service was good, the state of the guest house is not a fault of the staff. more

I've just returned from a 3 night stay at the Greyfriars - yes, the location is great, but the street outside is so noisy at night that it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. Not only the loud music another reviewer mentioned, but people walking past in the early hours (up until around 3 am) , shouting and... more

Greyfriars House was recommended to me as a great location, and this was certainly true - couldn't be better. Luckily I knew my way around Canterbury so finding the car park wasn't too much of a hassle (though I would have like to have been warned about this before). However, the car park was certainly secure - and very welcome... more

We stayed in the family room, which was an average size. It was basic but clean. (The room was located in the back as the window indirectly overlooked a side alley leading to a garden). The bathroom was small and had poor lighting. The towels were clean, but tatty – their lifespan had expired, time to get new ones. The... more

We spent two nights at the Greyfriars house for a wedding in August 2007. Though it is practically impossible to navigate to the hotel by car without directions (call ahead - once you know the roads it is easy, but Canterbury was clearly designed to confuse the vehicle-borne traveler), the location is fantastic. The cathedral and all the main attractions... more

Me and my three friends stayed at the Greyfriars for an Easter girlie weekend. Unfortunately I had booked the rooms before I read your reviews on tripadvisor! Good points: 1.Straightforward booking via email, and when I asked at the last minute if my booking could be changed to two double rooms, they did it efficiently and quickly. 2.The rooms were... more

My stepdaughter & neice came from America and stayed at the B & B. They were delightrd with the room as it was bright and airy . There was a choice for breakfast, full English or whatever they wished to have. . The staff were very pleasant and helpfull.and this made them feel at home. They took a few leaflets... more

We stayed at Greyfriars Inn in mid October 2006 on a Saturday night. Our room was pleasant & clean enough, though the bathroom was tiny. The cooked breakfast was also reasonable and the staff friendly. It is located right in the heart of town making all sights a stroll of mere minutes away. The bad news is that there is... more
