Other comments have mentioned the paper thin walls. Well, we did not experience this, and if I had then I would no doubt have had a different attitude. But as it is, we just loved this hotel. It was so nice to be within the cathedral precinct, and incidentally saved us the cost of the ticket that other people have... more

I skimmed through the reviews on this site having made a very last minute booking, we felt that a Travelodge type room would be absolutely fine. First impressions were good. Ground floor, good view of cathedral, very friendly staff. The room was not big, but perfectly adequate for a one night stay and very clean. The double bed was up... more

My fiance and I stayed here for only one night and really wished we could stay longer! At first we thought it would be strange to stay practically in a cathedral, but it was an amazing location with a fantastic, friendly atmosphere - we didn't feel overcome with religion either and we weren't tiptoeing about the place as feared! Our... more

I was driving and it was quite difficult to locate the Lodge but once I found it and parked it was a fantastic location. You are right up against the cathedral which is lit up at night making for a very dramatic view out of your room. The hotel is a bit dorm like but very clean and quiet. Internet... more

Yes there are other hotels in Canterbury that offer larger rooms, bigger TVs or better breakfasts in the morning but you don't have the grounds or vista of Canterbury Cathedral just outside your door! The hotel is ok not boutique but it is clean, spacious and the view looking out onto the Cathedral is amazing! Staff are very helpful and... more

Great value for money for such a central location considering the price includes entrance to the Cathedral (that is £7.50 per adult!). Easy to find if you follow their directions, parking is close and secure. Receptionist extremely helpful offering restaurant suggestions etc. We were there for concert in the conference suite next door - couldn't be more convenient!! Rooms are... more

An absolute sensation. If you intend to over night in Canterbury, then there is only one place you should stay - the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge. My mum and I paid £65 b&b for a Sunday night, and had a superb time. Rooms are clean, staff friendly and the location is second to none, any where in the UK. For starters,... more

My mum and I have just returned from an absolutely lovely stay at the Cathedral Lodge. I'd read most of the reviews on this site before booking, and was a little bit concerned by some of the more negative comments, but chose in the end to take a chance and go with the positive ones, and I'm so glad I... more

We considered visiting Canterbury as a day trip from London, but decided to stay for one night as the last train departed prior to the end of the ghost walk we wanted to take. We were so pleased we stayed at the Cathedral Lodge. As others have noted, being permitted access to the precincts after hours is a treat. We... more

The hotel is located within the grounds of Canterbury cathedral. I had a brilliant view of the cathedral from my room window (and the cathedral is lit up at night). At night they shut the grand gates to the cathedral grounds so if you come back late the porters will open them for you and I found it a special... more
