Hubby and I went to England to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and wanted to find a special place to stay. English Heritage has quite a few different properties that can be booked, including the one we chose - Peverell's Tower on the grounds of Dover Castle. There's a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, with a funny, cramped little stairs that goes up to the roof for even more spectacular views. The castle grounds are very quiet (quite spooky) after it closes to regular visitors at 6 pm. Tower guests are allowed to wander the property at will, although the main buildings are locked. There's still a lot to see, and it's really neat to be there when no one else is around... more
