We stayed there last year, and returned to the Chequers Inn recenctly. Clean rooms, fantastic food, good beer, great location, friendly staff and good value for money. more

Having been recommended by the people at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation we booked the Chequers for a two night stay and couldn't have been made more welcome by the family at the inn. Both food and accomodation were excellent and we would highly recommend it. Sue & Ian from Dorset more

Due to the great location and building it should have been a positive experience, but it wasn't because everything else was sub-standard. I think the people who have written the bad reviews must have been staying in a different place to us. We honestly couldn't fault any aspect of our stay at the Chequers Inn in Smarden. We held our Wedding Reception here and Gwen, Melissa, Glenn, Scot, their Chef and Staff did us proud. They all worked extremely hard we all had a fantastic time.
