We booked this hotel with a money off voucher from a newspaper. The location was brilliant, close to shops, restaurants, cinema and the theatre. Our only problem was being woken by yobs during the Saturday night but when we complained they knoocked off that nights accommodation and apologised. It wouldn't stop me from going there again. more

The hotel was fine. It was quite clean, friendly and efficient, very central and handy and had grand public rooms that reminded me of childhood when this was a grand hotel. The room was tiny with a single bed and an oddly shaped shower room with dated furbishings. Way too much MFI and teak in the room which was depressing. more

we had our wedding reception here, everything went smoothly - staff was very helpful and polite making our day and night go very smoothly. Our room was very big - i'd say the same size as 2 rooms. During the day between day and night reception i went up to a friends room which was also very nice. We was... more

I have just spent 2 nights at this hotel. It is decidedly shabby and needs redecoration. On arrival we were asked if we wanted a smoking or no smoking room, we said No Smoking and went to the room it smelt strongly of cigarettes so we returned to reception it appeared that a smoking room one night became a no... more

What a classy hotel! Victorian grandeur, and its own railway station out the back! Relax on a comfy sofa in the huge reception hall and drink from bottomless glasses of wine and cups of coffee. Well, if you're on the all-inclusive tariff, that is! more

Welcome back to Hull 1979. This once grand Victorian hotel has suffered from minimum care and sympathy over recent years. Its spartan furnishings are cheap and tacky reflecting all the efforts of an interior designer who had a £ 100 to spend in 1979 ! The staff are woefully under trained although they try their best. It can be comical... more

Stayed for 1 night. A bit dated and needs a refresh in all areas. Room small, dated and not cleaned thoroughly. Again TV was huge, old fashioned on. Room door had been forced open at some time - very obvious from the repair. In a no smoking room but awoken twice by strong smell of cigarette smoke. Felt like they... more

I stayed here for one night on a short notice business trip and found it on Laterooms (a bargain! I thought). It is a very central location and has free car parking for hotel guests. Ignore the signs regarding car park spaces for "Ladies Only"; all the builder's Transits vans seem to. The overall feel is Victorian, with plaques on... more

Have stayed here before. Hotel is in need of a refurb but it is clean. Great attentive staff. Good food although they have cut back on the carvery nights to a menu but still several good choices. In the centre of Hull. Main road can be busy at night with ambulances and police sirens. Train station at the rear with... more
