Enjoyed a one night stay in September. We have stayed at the Duck many times and as usual the staff were very helpful and friendly. For the first time we stayed in the Garden Room which is simply beautiful. The afternoon was spent on the balcony and outside the pub. Could not have been better. However, the evening meal was... more

We stayed at The Drunken Duck for 1 night in Sept 2008. Everything we encountered there was of the highest standard. The staff were all delightful, friendly, knowledgable and professional. On arrival we were taken to our lovely room ( a Superior room) where everything we needed to know was explained. We then had complimentary scones with home made jam... more

At a lonely crossroads in the Lake District with rolling fells, forest and farmland stretching as far as the eye can see in every direction sits the Drunken Duck Inn...an oasis of calm, style, class and 5 star food and drink. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Friendly, attentive yet non intrusive service. The rooms are classic... more

Although we didn't stay at the hotel we ate in the resturant. We had read reviews that stated it was excellent for dining and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we found that the quality of the food did not live up to expectations, the majority of the food was barely warm, average and was extremely overpriced. Save your... more

We made a 250 mile round trip to have lunch. What I found was a very disappointing bar area, a souless restaurant and decidedly average food. Although I didn't think the price was over the top the food certainly didn't merit the reviews I'd previously read. more

We stayed here for 2 nights in the beginning of March for our 1st wedding anniversary. We initially thought the Drunken Duck was quite expensive for what you got but we soon changed our minds. We arrived on Sunday afternoon, checked in and were greeted with warm scones, cream, jam and fresh tea. We stayed in room 11 on the... more

Not sure if I shoudl call this a Hotel or B&B, for the prices then it must be a Hotel however for the facilities then maybe a very good B&B. The Rooms are well appoitted although a little small and if in the main house, noisy from the bar below, try to get a room in the extension at the... more

I have not used this site before but felt compelled to write having read a couple of reviews that really could not have been further from my experience at the Drunken Duck. Firstly I think it is important to realise what you should expect when visiting this glorious spot. Firstly, if you are wanting a pint of dodgy cream flow... more

We are writing this sitting in the cosy lounge of the Drunken Duck next to Kipper the cat, feeling very full and contented after our hearty breakfast! We arrived yesterday and did a beautiful 6 mile walk round Hawkshead and the lake near by, it rained the entire time and we have never been so wet. On our arrival we... more

My wife and I stayed at the Drunken Duck during the weekend of 2/3 Feb. It simply was not worth the whopping £265 we paid for dinner(incl. drinks)/bed/breakfast. The Drunken Duck pretends to be something it is not. The service, food and accommodation are very average. more
