We have now stayed here 3 times and could not fault it. We have stayed once in the main house and twice out by the gardens/across the courtyard. On this occassion we booked a room with a terrace and were incredibly lucky with the weather. I understand what has been said about the water but find some comments a bit... more

We stayed at the drunken duck for one night for our wedding anniversary. We stayed in room number 15 a superior room and it was very nice. My husband had arranged with the hotel for a bouquet of flowers to be in the room on arrival which they courteously assisted him with and they were well worth it. We were... more

My husband and I recently spent one night at the Drunken Duck, as did the previous reviewer, we had room 10 which should have overlooked the lake but a huge tree outside the window completely obstructed the view. On arrival I read the "what you should know" booklet in the bedroom. The first page mentioned that the water which came... more

First of all this is a fantastic place to stay. We had Room 10, a de luxe room across the courtyard overlooking the tarn. It was a beautiful, spacious room with good facilities. There's a luxurious bathroom with bath and seperate shower and Arran Aromatic toiletries you're encouraged to keep. There was a flat screen tv in the bedroom and... more

We stayed at The Duck for my husband's birthday, having heard about it when we first dined there three years ago. I had booked a standard room and didn't know what to expect. However, we were delighted! The room was at the back of the inn, across a courtyard right next to the brewery. Although the room was small, it... more

Success can sometimes result in arrogance, complacency and even laziness. Unfortunately this is what my friends and I experienced in spades during a recent dinner at the pub’s restaurant. In summary, the dinner service was amateurish, disorganized, hurried and incredibly bureaucratic. The dining atmosphere was terribly lit, uncomfortable with the staff and everyone in the pub area talking in hushed... more

We stayed at the Drunken Duck last August bank Holiday for 1 night. All in all we were very happy with it. The room we had was a reasonable size and had a small patio area with a view over a field and some sheep. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant which was quiet, I read an earlier... more

Had lunch at the DD last week and was worried that it might be a little bit stuck up, from reading some of the reviews. But no, it was great. Yes, it's more chi-chi than your average Lakes pub but what's wrong with nice floors and friendly bar staff? The food was great too. I'd rather pay a quid more... more

Stayed at the Drunken Duck many years back - its always enjoyed a great location and in its day had the feel of a great pub/inn offering good food and great accom. Oh how things change! Lets start with the accom which remains on the plus side if not slightly overpriced. Stay away from room 7 which hosts the Kitchen... more

We were recommended this hotel (sorry B&B!) and although it was expensive we decided to give it a go. First impressions were good and thoughtful touches such as home-made biscuits and shampoos in the rooms were appreciated. But, and this is a big but, they go out of their way to rip you off come the evening. The pub is... more
